Supergirl

The Girl of Steel’s final appearance on yearly TV shows lists, Supergirl returned to screens this year for its sixth and final season. And while there was always some Kryptonite along the way, this time she had to face her other greatest weakness: Magic.

A period trapped in the Phantom Zone saw the show’s primary hero accidentally bring back a mischievous imp from the Fifth Dimension, and Nyxly certainly seemed like a fitting villain for the finale as we had learned so much about the dangers of Fifth Dimensional Imps throughout the show without ever fully understanding that. Did Supergirl season 6 convey that to the extent it could have? Debatable, but it did pair her with the Super Friends’ archenemy, Lex Luthor, for a finale battle for the ages.

Supergirl has been a beacon of light for so many people throughout its run, championing empowerment, inclusion, diversity and so much more, inspiring fans with hope and providing them with some damn good television. To see Melissa Benoist’s uplifting hero bow out was certainly an emotional ride, but it’s a journey we will never forget. And with season 6 being a major improvement over the lacklustre fifth season, it allowed Kara Zor-El to go out on a high.

Thank You for the heart, Supergirl!
