Marvel: How these new and upcoming Disney Plus shows can succeed
By Mark Lynch
Here’s how these new Marvel Studios shows be hits on Disney Plus.
Disney Plus Day was a major hit. People all over the world looked forward to seeing what’s in the future of the Disney Plus streaming service and they were not disappointed. Disney cartoons and Star Wars were among the top searches on social media. Of course, Marvel had a big day as well.
The reveals that X-Men ‘97 and Agatha: House of Harkness were coming got fans excited for Marvel’s future. Images for Echo and the popular Marvel Crossover Secret Invasion were shown as well. However, those two were previously announced. Reminding the fans of their arrival on Disney Plus day was smart. It also evoked some excitement with all of the other projects.
There are four other projects that should be recognized as well. Marvel Zombies, Ms. Marvel, I Am Groot, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year. Two are new, two were already confirmed. But all four could be great – and knowing Marvel, they will be. Here’s how they can be popular additions to the Marvel line-up when they make their debut.
I Am Groot
Keep your expectations low
Of all the Disney Plus shows that were announced, this is the one people should lower their expectations on. Groot is adorable. That’s about it. When he was an adult, there was more to his character. Now. Groot is something Disney and Marvel use to sell merchandise (and accomplish it very well).
Could I Am Groot be more than just a show about a cute character? Absolutely. Nonetheless, don’t look for too much from this show. Hopefully, this will be an origin story. Start him as a little Groot and continue until he’s a full grown tree. Otherwise, this will likely be something geared towards kids more than adults.
