6. Mystique

Mystique is always up to something. Usually, she only cares about herself. However, there are a few people in her life that she cares about more. Those three people are Rogue, Nightcrawler, and Destiny. The latter being the one she’s willing to lie, cheat, and destroy Krakoa over.

In X-Men: Inferno, Mystique went to great lengths to bring her wife, Destiny, back to life. In doing so, she found out secrets that could have destroyed Krakoa. Mystique didn’t care if every mutant in Krakoa died. She would kill them all herself if it meant Destiny would live. Going forward, we’ll have to see if Destiny feels the same way.

5. Peter Parker

In the last few months of 2021, Peter Parker had the name Spider-Man taken from him, he was hospitalized, put in a coma, and can now barely walk. We’re used to the Parker luck, but this is a bit much. Even for Peter.

Ben Reilly may be Spider-Man and the Beyond Corporation may own the rights to the Spider-Man name, but it’s doubtful that this will last the entire year. Earth-616 Peter Parker is the premiere Spider-Man in all of reality. He’s also one of the most popular and important characters in all of comic books. Keeping him away from action is bad for business. There is money in his return. Seeing his triumphant comeback to web-swinging will be a special moment in 2022.
