New Dark Knight and star of The Batman Robert Pattinson explained what he likes about an obscure joke Bat villain.

If you were to guess Robert Pattinson’s favorite Batman villain was Riddler, Penguin, or Catwoman, having acted opposite those characters in The Batman, you’d be wrong.

That doesn’t mean he lacks a soft spot for each one and perhaps a few others. It’s just that he had a different foe in mind that he raved about in an interview with Brut Mexico about the Caped Crusader and his new movie.

This one cuts the mustard

“There’s a bad guy in the Animated Series called Condiment King,” Pattinson said during the chat. “I just think it’s the greatest idea. It’s a guy who sprays mustard and ketchup at people, and I just think it’s such a great idea for a bad [guy]
”

Pattinson appears amused by the idea someone is held up by a criminal in Gotham and “They just get covered in mustard.”

His costar ZoĂ« Kravitz was there too and she chimed in, finding the idea and Pattinson’s fondness for it kind of funny as well. “You’re really sticking with this,” she said, adding Condiment King would make it easier for his victims to enjoy dipping fries on themselves.

Sultan of Sauce

Created for The Animated Series, Condiment King was a parody of corny villains with odd gimmicks only appearing in a single episode, “Make ‘Em Laugh.” He was voiced by comedian and actor Stuart Pankin – also known for playing the voice of family patriarch Earl on Jim Henson’s Dinosaurs.

Quickly foiled by Batman and his own clumsiness, the King turned out to be a stand-up comic under The Joker’s control and part of a larger scheme. He also turned out to be rather memorable and went on to make appearances in the Birds of Prey comics and HBO Max’s Harley Quinn.

The show is coming back for a third season and it’s possible we will see more of the Condiment King in animation. In live-action, such as for the plausible eventuality of The Batman 2, his fate is less certain.
