Batwoman is a staple of The CW but will the network renew the beloved show for a fourth season? Will Batwoman season 4 be picked up?

Batwoman has had quite the run. The CW series debuted after Kate Kane’s introduction into the Arrowverse in the Elseworlds crossover of 2018, but actress Ruby Rose’s departure after the first season threw its future into question. That is, until Javicia Leslie stepped up to take over the mantle, bringing in a new Scarlet Knight and reinvigorating the show in the process.

Batwoman hasn’t looked back since then, with Ryan Wilder’s introduction taking it to new heights and unleashing a whole new chapter for the series full of stories for the new Bat Team and their leader.

The series just wrapped its third season, with both it and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airing their season finales on the same night and leaving fans wondering if – or when – the shows will return to The CW.

Batwoman‘s finale definitely left viewers with questions about a potential new story. But will it get to tell that story? Here’s what we know.

Is Batwoman season 4 happening at The CW?

Batwoman season 4 has not yet been greenlit at The CW. However, there is still a pretty high chance that it could be.

The network has already announced a batch of early renewals, with The FlashSuperman and LoisWalkerKung FuAll AmericanRiverdale and Nancy Drew all getting picked up for another season. While that has definitely worried fans of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow (particularly because both shows are usually part of the early renewals), it’s important to remember that more renewals will come and there are a lot of things working in those shows’ favor.

Batwoman may not get the numbers that The Flash does, but it’s still one of the most consistent shows on the network, with its fanbase garnering it similar figures on a weekly basis throughout its second and third seasons (with little-to-no drop-offs between seasons 2 and 3). Yes, it’s the least-watched Arrowverse show, but it’s still part of that incredibly successful franchise, it has an established fanbase and it’s ahead of a lot of the network’s shows in numbers.

The uncertainty surrounding the future of The CW due to the potential sale of the network has resulted in a lot of question marks, with the suggestion that we may see more cancellations than usual, but it’s important to remember that Batwoman has always overcome the odds. And with a lot working in its favor, it could definitely do it again. Here’s hoping that it does.

With The CW Upfronts in May, expect to have heard a decision by then.
