Will Moon Knight get a movie? (Has Marvel announced a Moon Knight movie?)
By Cody Schultz
Considering the open-ended nature of Moon Knight season 1, is a Moon Knight movie in the works at Marvel Studios?
Across six amazing episodes, Marvel introduced viewers to its news hero with the introduction of Marc Spector and Steven Grant’s Moon Knight. The series did a beautiful job of welcoming viewers into a new realm of the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe in a series that managed to serve as the perfect origin story for the character of Moon Knight.
Although the first season of the series managed to do an incredible job of telling a complete story, there is no denying that the ending of the episode left the door wide open for the character to return to the MCU in the form of a massive post-credits scene.
Warning: Moon Knight season finale spoilers ahead.
After managing to save the day and stop Harrow and Ammit, Marc and Steven seemed to have been set free from their deal with Khonshu. However, as the post-credit scene revealed, Khonshu had indeed already found his next avatar and that person just so happened to be Marc’s third personality Jake Lockley!
In the closing moments of the season, we’re officially introduced to Jake via a scene that saw him kill Harrow after breaking him out of the physiatric hospital he had been locked up in before driving off into the distance.
Clearly, there’s more story to be told and we haven’t seen the last of Moon Knight, but what exactly does Marvel have planned next for the character?
Is a Moon Knight movie happening?
At this time, Marvel has not announced plans for a Moon Knight movie but there certainly is a possibility one could happen.
Several Marvel Disney Plus series have helped to set up films and there is a possibility this trend could continue with Moon Knight. WandaVision and What If…? both led into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Falcon and the Winter Solider was used to set up a fourth Captain America film to be led by Anthony Mackie.
Following the success of Moon Knight‘s run on Disney Plus, it is possible Marvel will look to continue Moon Knight’s story via a movie rather than via a second season. After all, there was no mention that Moon Knight would return in season 2 which is how Marvel confirmed Loki‘s renewal.
Regardless of whether Moon Knight next returns via a movie or another season of Moon Knight on Disney Plus, the one thing that is certain is we have not seen the last of Marc Spector, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley.
Moon Knight is streaming now on Disney Plus.
