What are the biggest takeaways from the trailer of Harley Quinn season 3? It’s these topics right here.

Harley Quinn season 3 finally has a release date. The highly anticipated third season will make its debut on HBO Max on July 28.

The announcement came with a brand new trailer – one that certainly didn’t disappoint. Fans got to see familiar faces like The Joker, Batwoman, and King Shark. New faces like Firefly and Amanda Waller made appearances as well. Those moments were enough to get people excited for season 3, but that’s not it. There’s so much more.

Here are eight moments from the trailer that must be mentioned.

8. Joker for Mayor

The Joker is one of the most ruthless villains in any genre. In the Harley Quinn universe he eventually became more caring. Well, for a few people at least. After getting amnesia, he became a loving boyfriend and father figure to his lady’s children. Whether or not that remains has yet to be seen. One thing’s for certain, Joker is trying to become even more corrupt. He’s getting into politics.

Joker running for Mayor may seem wrong, but there’s also something right about it. Gotham City is the most dangerous city in the world. If anyone should be in charge it’s him. Also, while his animosity towards Harley seemed to be over, he had Harley Quinn dancers. So who knows what’s up with Joker.

Lastly, it’ll be interesting to see who runs against him. Whoever it is has to be someone who isn’t intimidated by him. It’ll probably be Harley, Bruce Wayne, or Commissioner Gordon. Don’t be shocked if Batman runs. It’s not like Gotham City has any real laws.

7. Amanda Waller

Once upon a time, Amanda Waller was Harley Quinn’s boss. Harley was forced to be a member of the Suicide Squad. She went on whatever missions Waller told her to. It’s not shocking that Harley holds some resentment. The weird thing is that she delivered Waller to Poison Ivy as a two week anniversary present. Was Ivy on the Suicide Squad once upon a time?

Ivy and Harley better not leave Amanda Waller alive. If they do, this season will likely end with Harley and Ivy in Belle Reve and on the Suicide Squad. Waller won’t like being kidnapped. Especially not from someone she used to order around. With one Suicide Squad figure usually comes another, so this writer also expects to see Deadshot in this season.

6. Court of Owls Orgy

The day before the season 3 trailer was released, Harley Quinn’s producer Patrick Schumacker tweeted out a teaser for a special announcement. With it came a picture of a mysterious group of people. Fans of Batman knew Harley and Ivy were with the Court of Owls. A secret group with a lot of worldly influence.

Of course, this isn’t the DC Comics universe. This is Harley Quinn-verse. Of course there’s more to the court than domination. Apparently, the Court of Owls are having a Herogasm of their own.

5. Swamp Thing debuts in Harley Quinn season 3

If you gave this writer ten chances to guess who was in season 3 of Harley Quinn, he wouldn’t have guessed Swamp Thing. He certainly wouldn’t have thought that he’d have a man-bun or be in love. Whatever is going on here, we can guess that Harley did something to annoy him. It’s what she does. There’s no way this doesn’t end in a fight of some sorts.

4. Harley gets the Invisible Jet

There is absolutely no way Wonder Woman gave Harley Quinn the invisible jet. Even if Harley helped save Themyscira (season 2 episode 9 “Bachelorette”). Wonder Woman is aware that no good can come from Harley and Ivy having her jet. So it must have been stolen, right? The question is how they snuck into Themyscira, avoided some of the best warriors in the universe, and stole Wonder Woman’s property. And why that vehicle? It had to be for more than stealth. Then again, the simplest reason may be the easiest.

3. Where is Doctor Psycho?

There was one character that was not in the Harley Quinn season 3 trailer. Doctor Psycho was missing. In episode 12 (“Lover’s Quarrel”), Psycho’s plan to take over the world failed thanks to Harley and Ivy. After being defeated, he showed all of Gotham that Harley and Ivy made love. In the season finale, Doctor Psycho was in Arkham Asylum. Considering how often criminals escape from there, Psycho will escape when he’s ready.

Psycho is a misogynist of the highest order. You’d assume he’s not going to take his defeat lying down. However, what if he had time to reflect in Arkham Asylum and became a different person? He could still be a jerk, but not as sexist. He could rejoin Harley’s crew again. Is this even possible? We’ll have to see if he shows up in the third season.

2. Batman and Catwoman

The love between Batman and Catwoman is one of the best in comic books. Recently in the comics, they almost got married. Despite not tying the knot, Catwoman never gave up on their relationship. She helped save Batman’s life and Gotham City (check out City of Bane for that). Despite their history, the two didn’t have any interactions in Harley Quinn. Apparently that’s going to change. In the trailer, Batman and Catwoman are getting intimate.

Last year, it was reported that an intimate scene between Batman and Catwoman was removed from the show. In the trailer, Batman asks Catwoman if she wants him to continue after Batman is licking her toes. She replies, “It’s not worth it.” Was this a shot at the censors having that scene removed?

1. Jim Gordon and Two-Face

Commissioner James Gordon’s vendetta against Harley won’t stop. That was evident in the Harley Quinn: Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour comic book. One thing that hasn’t been highlighted much is Gordon’s rivalry with Two-Face. The trailer shows that it will continue in season 3.

Two-Face ran the Gotham City Police force in season 2 until Gordon took it back. The trailer shows Gordon punching Two-Face, proving their feud isn’t over. Maybe they’re fighting because Two-Face escaped Arkham. Or, and this could be the real reason, Harvey Dent could be running for Mayor of Gotham and Gordon isn’t having it. We’ll have to wait and see.
