A carefully placed MCU Easter egg in She-Hulk episode 2 seemed to confirm that the Disney Plus series takes place after the events of Eternals.

Before the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law even premiered, there was a lot of speculation and curiosity among fans regarding when in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline the project took place. A large cause for this uncertainty was the fact that the promotional footage for the series featured conflicting shots of Bruce Banner and the Hulk.

In some promotional materials, we see Bruce as his normal self rocking the arm sling and nursing the injury he sustained from using the Iron Man Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame (a look he was also seen sporting in Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.) However, in other footage, Bruce was back in his Smart Hulk persona with a fully-healed arm.

Of course, this was all explained away in the season premiere when we discovered that Bruce began the series still injured and as Bruce Banner but was able to heal his arm using Jen’s blood which is how he was able to transform back into Smart Hulk. While that plot line cleared up the confusion regarding how Bruce’s arm was healed, it created even more confusion regarding where She-Hulk takes place in the MCU timeline.

Well, while there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact timeline, an MCU Easter egg featured in the second episode of the series suggests the film takes place after the events of Eternals.

Warning: Minor She-Hulk episode 2 spoilers ahead.

She-Hulk episode 2 Eternals MCU Easter egg explained

After getting fired from her job at the DA’s office, Jen ends up job searching and does what any normal person would do after — turn to the internet. When panning to a website Jen is reading, there is a headline on the site that reads, “Why is there a giant statue of a man sticking out of the ocean?” which seems to be a direct reference to the events from Eternals.

As fans will recall, in the closing act of Eternals, the Eternals band together to stop the Emergence from destroying the Earth using a combination of Phastos’ Uni-Mind device and Sersi’s powers to stop Tiamut the Celestial from emerging. In the process of stopping his emergence, the Eternals turned Tiamut into stone before he could emerge and destroy the planet resulting in the giant being sticking out of the ocean — thus the headline seen on the website.

When does She-Hulk take place in the MCU timeline?

By confirming the events of Eternals had already taken place by the time episode 2 unfolds, we know that She-Hulk takes place sometime after Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. What has not yet been confirmed is whether the series takes place before the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Hawkeye, Moon Knight or Ms. Marvel.

With Wong set to make an appearance at some point in the series, we should learn more about the timing of the show in regards to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness depending upon what events Wong might reference.

As of now, it looks like She-Hulk takes place between Eternals and Spider-Man: Far From Home within the MCU.

New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law drop weekly every Thursday on Disney Plus.
