David Zaslav has hinted that The Flash movie will remain on DC Films slate despite the controversy over its title star..

Earlier this month, during an investor call, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, confirmed that The Flash does intend to continue with its announced release date next summer in June 2023.

This was merely over a week following a headline from Variety that saw the film’s trouble-plagued lead Ezra Miller making, for lack of a better term, a hollow and diplomatic apology for all the public eye to see.

How does The Flash fit into DC’s new ten-year strategy?

The Flash, according to Zaslav, does fit as a part of WBD’s new strategy going forward, unlike the previous slate of films that were axed such as Batgirl, Wonder Twins, and Scoob! Holiday Hunt. WBD was insistent that their strategy of theatrical first and PVOD and streaming further down the line are a part of the mantra. Zaslav stated at the time:

"“We’re not going to release any film before it’s ready. We’re not going to release any film before it’s ready. We’re not going to release a film to make a quarter… the focus is gonna be how do we make each of these films, in general, as good as possible but DC is something that we think we could make better and we’re focused on it now. We’re not going to put a movie out unless we believe in it. That’s it. The objective is to grow the DC brand, to grow the DC characters, but also our job is to protect the DC brand, and that’s what we’re going to do.”"

Now, whether you are for or against the CEO of WBD’s cost-cutting methods, be that as it may, there are going to be a lot of changes to DC films and shows in the current climate predictably from 2024 and beyond. A report from ScreenRant (H/T: The Hollywood Reporter) stated the star already did reshoots amid the legal disputes. The Flash is a key indicator to see what plans DC has in store.
