Batman mistakes the DCEU avoided by dumping the Snyderverse
A Bruce and Lois romance almost happened
Respecting one’s creativity is one thing, Snyder had a plan to bring Lois and Clark’s unborn child into the DCEU, amazing. The problem isn’t them having a child, nor that said child would be powerless. The issue lies with the child being named Bruce Kent, the next Batman. In case you didn’t know, Batman’s story was set to conclude after he sacrificed himself. That’s cool, but one would think before that happened, they’d set up Bruce Wayne having a son, Damian Wayne, not in Zack Snyder’s world.
At some point, we were going to get a new Batman. No, it wasn’t going to be Dick Grayson. He died at the hands of the Joker. No, it wasn’t going to be Azrael who took over when Bane broke Batman’s back. And no, it wasn’t going to be Terry McGinnis, the young adult who took the mantle after Batman got too old, birthing Batman Beyond. It was someone else entirely.
"“Twenty years later, on the anniversary of [Batman’s] death, they take young Bruce Kent down to the Batcave, and they say, ‘Your Uncle Bruce would’ve been proud if you did this.’”"
Yes, you read that title right. Zack Snyder was continuing his Elseworld vision into the future by giving us Bruce Kent, Batman. Batman’s passing wasn’t just him sacrificing himself to save the universe. He put his life on the line for the woman he loved, Lois Lane, who was pregnant with their child. Lois of course didn’t tell Bruce he was the father. Instead, the newly resurrected Clark and Lois kept this secret from Bruce. We didn’t need that story and thankfully we never got it.
