As anticipation grows over Wolverine’s return, we now have a look at what Hugh Jackman could look like in the character’s iconic comic suit.

When Hugh Jackman decided to walk away from the X-Men franchise after 17 years of playing Wolverine on the big screen, it seemed all hopes of fans getting the chance to see Jackman playing the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were gone. After all, not only was Logan designed to be Jackman’s final turn as the character, but the film also brought with it the death of his character.

However, Ryan Reynolds and the powers that be have pulled off the unexpected and will soon bring Wolverine into the MCU with Jackman set to reprise the role he first originated in X-Men more than two decades ago.

Jackman’s return in Deadpool 3 will not only mark his first appearance in the MCU, but it will also mark the first time Jackman’s Wolverine has crossed paths with Reynolds’ Deadpool on-screen since X-Men: Origins.

As expected, little is known about Jackman’s return to the character other than that Deadpool 3 will not negate the events of Logan which Reynolds has reminded fans took place in 2029. “Logan died, no one’s touching that,” the actor assured fans when discussing Jackman’s return in a video on social media.

It’s also unclear whether the Wolverine introduced in the MCU — a Wolverine whose existence has been teased via She-Hulk — will be the same Wolverine we knew from 20th Century’s X-Men films. After all, the MCU has established the multiverse’s existence and the fact that there can be various iterations of the same character out there in the multiverse with unique backstories.

The one thing we know for certain is that Jackman will be returning as Wolverine and that fans are eager to see the actor finally donning the character’s signature comic book. Thanks to a piece of stunning new art we now have an idea of what he could look like upon suiting back up as the character.

What Hugh Jackman could look like as Wolverine in Deadpool 3

With Jackman set to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, digital artist Samukarts has gifted us with a look at just what Jackman could look like when the time comes to suit up in the character’s iconic comic book costume — or at least one iteration of the costume.

Inspired by the character’s iconic blue and yellow suit, Samukarts transforms Jackman back into the character he breathed life into for more than a decade. This time, however, we get to finally see Jackman in all his glory as Wolverine while donning the character’s iconic comic suit.

It’s truly stunning to see Jackman in the character’s signature suit once, but this time donning the iconic suit and cowl we never got to see him during his time in the X-Men film franchise. Just thinking about what Jackman might look like in the Wolverine suit is enough to give you chills as it’s a moment many had thought we’d never get.

It’ll be interesting to see if Marvel opts for the classic blue and yellow suit or goes for the brown variant suit when it comes time to bring Wolverine into the MCU, but as the concept art showcases there’s really no losing for fans as Jackman is sure to look stunning in either suit.

Will Hugh Jackman wear the Wolverine costume in Deadpool 3?

Although Marvel has not confirmed whether or not Hugh Jackman will finally get to suit up in one of Wolverine’s iconic comic book costumes when he returns in Deadpool 3, it is expected that we’ll finally see Jackman sporting the character’s costume.

Reports have begun to leak out from several well-known scooper and update pages that report Deadpool 3 will finally give audiences Jackman in a Wolverine costume. It’s not yet known whether this could be the character’s iconic blue and yellow suit or his yellow and brown suit, but the odds of Jackman finally donning the character’s signature costume are looking incredibly strong.

And if there is any studio that can capture the likeness of a comic book costume in a beautiful and elaborate suit, it’s Marvel Studios.

Did Hugh Jackman ever wear the Wolverine suit?

Jackman came close to donning the suit once before, but 20th Century dropped the storyline and never had Jackman suit up. The closest we got to seeing the two together came via a deleted scene in The Wolverine in which Jackman’s Wolverine received a briefcase containing his trademark yellow outfit.

Unfortunately, 20th Century cut the scene and never chose to incorporate the suit in one of their X-Men films. Considering how many X-Men films Jackman appeared in, it’s actually considered quite shocking to many that he never got the chance to wear the Wolverine suit on the big screen.

Now that Jackman is about to make his way into the MCU, it appears we’re finally going to see him rocking a Wolverine suit in Deadpool 3. Whether he ends up rocking the signature blue and yellow suit or its brown and yellow variant remains unclear, but all indications seem to be that Jackman could finally get to suit up in the Wolverine costume more than two decades after originating the role in X-Men.

Will Deadpool 3 be affected by the Writers’ Strike?

At this time, Marvel Studios has not released any statements regarding the projects that have been affected by the Writers’ Strike; however, it is speculated that Deadpool 3 is among the Marvel films in the works that might be affected by the strike.

Deadpool 3 was set to begin filming as early as this May and while it’s possible the movie could still begin filming if the script has been finished, comments made by Ryan Reynolds in the past hint the movie might be affected.

When speaking about the film during an interview last year with The Jess Cagle Show, Reynolds revealed that the writing process never really ends until the movie has wrapped filming. As Reynolds revealed at the time, “the writing process on Deadpool movies doesn’t really end until they take the movie away from us.”

Given the Writers’ Strike is in effect and would prevent edits to the script during production, it seems likely production on the third film would need to hit pause until after the Writers’ Strike is revolved which could potentially delay the film’s current 2024 release date.
