2. Fear Street: Part One – 1994

The first movie in the trilogy, 1994, set the stage for the entire story. We had murders, mayhem, and a chilling story to be told. We know that there is evil in this town, but do we know why. Honestly, at this point, we have no clue what is going on. But this is when we actually learn that there is a long history of evil that needs to be stopped.

It was hard to decide if 1994 was better than 1666 or if it just fell short, but the thing that pushed 1994 into second is the fact that the movie was full of the horror we wanted. It gave us the jump scares, the psychological horror, and even the downright creepy.

Basically, having this movie set the stage for everything gave it the edge over 1666 which was split between its named time period and the 1994 present. In Part One, we learned about the horror happening in this town and to so many of the teenagers in the area. It was clearly inspired by slasher films and even the movies so many of us grew up with in the 1990s and early 2000s. And that idea was strengthened by the fact that it is a group of teenagers taking on the evil and doing what they can to stop it.

Honestly, this was a spooky thriller to kick things off and we have to love that. We love that this was the introduction to the world of Fear Street for so many and that it was done in exactly the way we would expect to read it in the books and see it in those slasher movies of the late 90s and early 2000s.
