Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse secrets and easter eggs you missed
6. A small look into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Remember that scene where Ganke was playing video games in his dorm room, and Miles asked him to call the police to arrest The Spot? Well, if you give it a quick look, it would be easy to assume that Ganke was playing Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 when refusing to help his roommate. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent he is instead playing its sequel: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PS5.
So what gives it away? If you look closely, you can see that the Spider-Man present in the videogame has equipped a set of four spider claws (the very same claws shown in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 reveal trailer). And while it’s true that some costumes in the PS4 game had spider claws as well, Spidey’s fighting animations were brand new and not present in the original game. That indicates that footage has to be from Peter’s next adventure, yet to be released for the PS5.
It was a brief moment, but every small look into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is very welcome while we wait for its release.
5. Miguel O’Hara’s new suit
When Miles meets Miguel O’Hara for the first time in the Spider-Society’s headquarters, we get a look at a new suit that will presumably be used in Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. In the background of the scene, we see a white Spider-Man 2099 suit hanging in a machine. However, the suit appears to be incomplete as it’s missing the whole bottom section. That means that Miguel it’s still building it, so let’s hope we get to see it in action in Mile’s next multiversal adventure.
4. The ASM-90 canon event
Speaking of Miguel O’Hara, he also makes a nod to a specific comic book when explaining canon events to Miles Morales. In the movie, Miguel explains that every Spider-Man, without exception, has to live through the pain of losing a police captain that’s close to him. Every time, the captain dies after trying to save a kid that got too close to a fight between Spider-Man and one of his enemies.
That canon event is called “ASM-90”, which is a reference to Amazing Spider-Man #90, a comic book released in 1970. In it, Captain Stacy dies after pushing a child out of the way of falling debris caused by an encounter between Spidey and Doctor Octopus. While it was a heartbreaking issue, it’s nice to know its name is yet another hidden secret in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
