DC fans are excited to see David Corenswet play the Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, and this awesome video gives us an idea of what that could look like.

The Man of Tomorrow has become one of cinema’s biggest icons. The Last Son of Krypton, Kal-El arrives on Earth and becomes the hero known as Superman, saving people and protecting the planet from harm. We’ve seen him do so many times on the big screen, with many legendary actors bringing him to life including Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill.

A new chapter will begin on the big screen in 2025 when Superman: Legacy hits movie theaters and launches the new DC Universe. The Man of Steel’s return will be directed by James Gunn, the co-chairman and CEO of DC Studios (alongside Peter Safran), and after months of speculation, it was revealed earlier this year that the character will be played by David Corenswet (alongside Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane).

Fans are ecstatic as the young actor has long been a fan-favorite to play the role. So we can’t say that the fan art and concept videos imagining what he will look like in the role have begun, because they have already been a fixture of the Superman conversation for years. But just in case you’d like an idea of what Corenswet could look like as Clark Kent’s heroic alter ego, check out this amazing video below.

What David Corenswet could look like as the Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy

YouTube user Stryder HD knows a thing or two about making incredible fan videos imagining what various actors could look like in certain roles and that is once again clear here. Titled a “first look” clip, this amazing video employs DeepFake technology to place David Corenswet’s likeness over that of Christopher Reeve’s iconic Man of Steel from the 1983 film Superman III, giving us an idea of what he could look like in the role.

It’s certainly a convincing result, which just reinforces how picture perfect Corenswet is when it comes to this role and why casting him was the right choice. He’s perfectly at home in the traditional Superman colors in the fan video, and fans who have been longing to see him cast in this role will undoubtedly be thrilled to see their vision come to life.

This is the second video in which Stryder HD has accomplished this feat, previously using footage from 2013’s Man of Steel, placing Corenswet’s likeness over Henry Cavill’s in clips from the Zack Snyder movie.

That one was also incredibly convincing, helped in no small part by the fact that Corenswet and Cavill resemble each other quite a bit, which is another part of what made the former such a fan-favorite for the choice of the younger Clark Kent.

Is Superman: Legacy an origin story?

While Superman: Legacy will tell the story of a younger Man of Steel, it won’t be an origin story. There was already speculation that the upcoming DC Studios film would try something different, and director James Gunn has since confirmed this on social media, telling a fan who eagerly requested that he showcase Clark Kent’s origins in similar fashion to the comic book All-Star Superman that he thinks “we’ve seen his origin enough in film at this time!”.

Gunn confirmed last year that the new DCU would be moving away from much of the pre-established continuity of the DCEU, meaning that Henry Cavill’s Superman would be phased out in favor of a younger Man of Steel.

Corenswet’s name came up pretty early into the casting process, but he had been among the fan-favorites to play the role ever since he made his stunning mainstream debut as River Barkley in Netflix’s The Politician. In fact, during a scene in the Ryan Murphy series, protagonist Payton Hobart (played by Ben Platt) actually tells him that he “looks like Superman”.

It was meant to be.
