Harley Quinn avoids the fate of too many DC shows recently by receiving a fifth season renewal.

The vast majority of DC Comics TV shows have either been cancelled or are ending. For example, despite its popularity, The CW’s Superman and Lois is entering its last season. Fellow CW shows like Gotham Knights didn’t get renewed, while Max’s Titans and Doom Patrol and a plethora of projects were ended after their current seasons. The one show that seems untouchable is Harley Quinn.

While other shows have received the ax, Harley, Poison Ivy, and the gang have remained safe. If you need more proof of this, look no further than the show getting renewed for a fifth season.

As reported by DC.com reports that the show was renewed for a fifth season. Executive Vice President at WarnerMedia, Suzanna Makkos said:

"“The talented Harley Quinn team has once again succeeded in delivering a season that builds on everything that has come before while still feeling fresh and inventive… They continue to provide hilarious, heartwarming, and deranged stories with our lovable group of DC misfits, and we couldn’t be more excited for the fans to see what they’ve accomplished in season 5.”"

Harley Quinn has been consistent since it debuted. Not just with the content (which is stupendous), but the creative team makes a point to put out a new season every year. There was even a special that accurately showed what Harley and Ivy’s first Valentine’s Day would look like. That special kept fans happy until the fourth season was released later in the year.

If that’s not enough, DC Comics adds to the show’s universe with a comic book series by Tee Franklin. The DC comic book bridges the gap between the seasons. It also allows for characters like Black Mask and Bella Garten to appear in the Harley Quinn universe without needing to cast voice actors.

Lastly, Harley Quinn has a lot of comic book lore to play with. The season 4 finale showed Barbara Gordon and Catwoman joining Ivy and Harley. This hints to a DC comic book team of The Birds of Prey, especially with Barbara becoming Oracle. Let’s also not forget that Nightwing is back from the dead and knows Harley killed him. This is a storyline that resembles Jason Todd’s return in Under the Red Hood.

One thing’s for certain, if fans continue to tune in to Harley Quinn, it may be around for a long time. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out when it returns, who will appear, and more.
