38. Hercules

"“You know, when I was a kid, I-I would have given anything to be exactly like everybody else.” -Hercules"

Like the title of the song above, Hercules went from zero to hero. The montage was just the beginning. Hercules had to learn what it meant to be a hero and almost died doing it.

First, Hercules gave up his strength to save Megara. Then, despite being vastly overpowered against the Titans, Herc protected his people. However, it wasn’t until he ventured into the Underworld to save Megara that he proved himself. In each, Hercules was willing to die to do the right thing. That’s how he earned his godhood and the title of a hero and place on this list.

37. Chip and Dale

"“We can’t waste our time playing pirates. We’re Rescue Rangers. We’ve got jobs to do.” -Chip"

Like a lot of Disney characters that end up getting shows, Chip and Dale started with a bunch of shorts. They were just two chipmunks getting into hijinks. When the Disney Afternoon began, Chip and Dale were joined by two mice (Gadget and Monterey Jack) and a fly named Zipper. Together, they solved real human crimes. An unlikely scenario, but a fun one, nonetheless.

After a nearly three-decade hiatus, a movie premiered in 2022. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers showed that if you’re beloved, a character can always make a comeback. Who knows, maybe a sequel is in their future.
