As Daredevil: Born Again is ready to hit Disney+, here are a few things to remember about the saga’s return!
It’s been a long wait for fans of Daredevil. The Netflix series did a great job adapting the comics of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), the blind lawyer who moonlights as vigilante Daredevil. The show wrapped up its third season in 2018, only for Netflix to cancel it and the other Defenders spin-offs as Disney took more control.
Thankfully, Daredevil is coming back in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. It’s a continuation of the Netflix show, and given that it’s been seven years since the show ended, some may have forgotten how it left off. So, to prepare for the return of Daredevil, here are a few things to remember!

Matt exposed the Kingpin
It looked like Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) had gotten all he wanted: To be out of jail, reunited with his wife Vanessa, and restored to his good name to be accepted into New York society. He’d silenced corrupt FBI agent Ray Nadeem (Jay Ali) and was ready to pick up his life.
However, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) discovered a videotape Nadeem had made before his death confessing to his complicity in Fisk’s many crimes. Foggy released it online, and Fisk’s party was interrupted by everyone seeing the video and the cops arriving to arrest Fisk. Which also had a couple of party crashers…

Matt and Kingpin made a dark “peace”
Matt and Fisk had a wild fight with insane FBI agent Ben Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), who Fisk had been using to frame Daredevil for murder. Matt was able to beat Fisk down and then offered a deal.
Fisk would take the fall for all his crimes and also leave Matt and his friends alone, including not revealing Matt’s secret identity. In return, Matt wouldn’t reveal that Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) was the one who ordered Nadeem’s murder. So the Kingpin was busted at last with an uneasy truce with Matt.

The birth of Bullseye
Poindexter had been used for the Kingpin’s dirty work framing Daredevil. However, Matt hit back by revealing that Fisk had ordered the death of Poindexter’s girlfriend Julie. That sent Poindexter for revenge, and a wild fight ended with Fisk breaking Poindexter’s back.
However, the final scene of the season showed Poindexter on an operating table where his spine was being repaired by a super strong metal. The last shot was a close-up of Poindexter’s eyes looking like a target. This seems to be the setup for Poindexter to become DD’s arch-enemy, the deadly Bullseye.

Matt’s mother returned
The season had begun with Matt barely surviving the collapsing building from the conclusion of The Defenders. He washed up in a river and was taken to a church where he was tended to by Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley). She nursed Matt back to health, and he soon bonded with her and respected her advice.
Maggie was unaware Matt could hear her praying and revealing she was actually his mother. Matt was obviously upset even as Maggie tried to help by giving sanctuary to Matt and Karen when the FBI was hunting them. She was nearly killed by Poindexter, who slew Father Lantom, with Matt saving her. At the end of the season, Matt and his mother made peace with each other, hoping to reconnect. Thus, this season may play more in Matt’s family dynamic.

Welcome back, Nelson & Murdock
Throughout season 3, Matt, Foggy, and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) were a bit on the outs with their various issues. Foggy was running for District Attorney but dropped out of the race in his attempts to help his friends against the FBI.
The trio came together and decided to restart their firm, now named Nelson, Murdock & Page. Finally, the three heroes are together again and set to help the little guy in need once more.

The Kingpin battled Hawkeye
Hawkeye had the big twist of Fisk being out of jail somehow and trying to reestablish his power in New York. He was using Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), a deaf martial artist who had been raised by Fisk after her father’s death. An expert fighter, Lopez aided Fisk in going against Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld).
Fisk was working with Kate’s mother, Eleanor, while Maya learned Fisk was the one who murdered her father. After Barton and Kate beat Fisk, he was confronted by a gun-toting Maya with a gunshot heard to leave his fate up in the air…

Maya tried to heal Fisk
This led to the Echo miniseries with Maya returning to her home in Oklahoma. It was revealed Fisk had survived the gunshot with an eye wound. He tracked Maya down, offering her his criminal empire to return to New York with him. Maya refused with her, and Fisk was set on a collision course.
Fisk went as far as to kidnap Maya’s family and threaten to kill them. They fought it out with Maya using her special powers to heal some of the Kingpin’s trauma regarding killing his abusive father when he was a kid. That rocked Fisk to let Maya go.
The final scene had a shaken Fisk in his plane, musing on his future. He then caught the news about the upcoming New York mayoral race and was clearly hit by an idea. This leads into Born Again as Fisk runs for office for a huge step up for him.

Matt met Spider-Man and She-Hulk
The MCU slowly began integrating Daredevil into things. He made a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Matt helped clear Peter Parker (Tom Holland) of charges of criminal activity. It was also fun how he caught a brick someone threw at Peter with ease.
Matt then showed up on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, getting involved in one of Jennifer Walters's (Tatiana Maslany’s) cases. The two hit it off with Matt showing up as Daredevil in a new yellow costume. He and She-Hulk battled a bad guy and spent a night together. While it’s unlikely She-Hulk will pop up in Born Again, it’s proven Matt is now part of the MCU and ready to rebuild himself for fans.
