Marvel fans are counting down the days to the release of Daredevil: Born Again. The upcoming Marvel Studios series is set to stream on Disney Plus this March and it will restore the world of Daredevil within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen first made his presence felt in the 2015 Netflix series that received critical acclaim for its hard-hitting, gritty approach to storytelling and it ran for three beloved seasons before its untimely cancellation (for reasons that had nothing to do with its performance). Now, star Charlie Cox and his costars return for sequel series Daredevil: Born Again and fans couldn't be more excited.

It's been a long time coming, and this return is particularly rewarding because the show and its characters are now officially canon to the MCU (after the previous show loosely based itself in the franchise without an official confirmation), which makes it all the more must-see!

Something else that makes it must-see is that Marvel has plans beyond the first season, suggesting that Daredevil: Born Again could be on our screens for some time - which is more than clear in these recent comments.

Marvel has plans to make Daredevil: Born Again season 3 (and beyond)

Daredevil fans should be prepared to see a lot more of their favorite characters, as it sounds like Daredevil: Born Again will be sticking around on our screens for years. At least that's what Marvel Television's Brad Winderbaum suggested in a recent interview. Speaking to Screen Rant about the show's future, he confirmed that the new plan is to have the series release annually, also confirming that season 2 will arrive in 2026.

However, he also referenced a potential third season, which had only been rumored up until that point, backing up the claims that it is on the cards. Most exciting, however, is that he confirmed there are hopes that the show could go on even beyond that, saying:

"Then hopefully, Season 3 and Season Infinity after that. I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York."

The show has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its series premiere, with production commencing on February 28. This could be due to the fact that the original incarnation of Daredevil: Born Again was set to be an 18-episode season before the creative reboot that it underwent saw it evolve into two nine-episode seasons instead. The fact that a third season is on the table highlights that Marvel isn't planning an immediate endgame for the show.

It's also reflective of the studio's shifting priorities when it comes to the Disney Plus shows. Marvel TV shows were once designed to bridge the gap between the MCU movies, introducing characters who could become important to the franchise in the future, but now their sole purpose is to exist as compelling TV shows. There aren't TV shows before the characters' big-screen appearances; there are TV shows and there are movies, two separate entities.

While Daredevil could appear in a future MCU film (he is rumored to make a cameo appearance in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars), the show has its own purpose to entertain as a damn good TV show, much like its predecessor. And with that, Marvel Television's new approach isn't to design miniseries with a greater purpose, but to build long-running TV shows with their own purpose. As a result, Daredevil: Born Again could run for many years if it proves to be successful, enjoying the run that the earlier Netflix series deserved.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney Plus on March 4, 2025.
