Marvel isn't only at the forefront of superhero movies, series, and comics, but also video games. Over the last few years, titles such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel Rivals have been released to critical acclaim, while Deadpool VR and Marvel Cosmic Invasion are just around the corner. But as eventful as the end of 2025 will be, the best is yet to come.
Fans around the world eagerly await the day Marvel's Wolverine hits shelves, and while there's no denying that the recent delay of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been underwhelming, in time, it can prove to be a fantastic and well-polished experience. But among all the exciting games set to be released in 2026 and beyond, there's one that has been gaining a lot of attention for all the right reasons. The best part? You could play it for yourself soon.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta will begin on December 5; Spider-Man and Ghost Rider set to join the roster
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag team fighter game set to feature many iconic heroes and villains from every corner of the Marvel universe. One of the biggest takeaways from Arc System Works' upcoming title is its unique anime-inspired art style, which reimagines the characters we know and love in new and unique ways. Players will get to wreak havoc across multiple stages and arenas in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. But in case the release window still feels a long way off, there's a chance to jump into the action even sooner than anticipated.
A closed beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will take place from December 5, 2025, to December 7. The game's previous beta was held in September and took place over four different play sessions in specific timeframes across three days. Fortunately, players will now get 72 hours of uninterrupted gameplay access with new surprises in store.
Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider and Spider-Man will finally join the roster of playable characters, while two new stages will be available to play as well. Savage Land is an iconic landmark in the Marvel comic book universe, which is why it isn't surprising to learn it will make its way to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. This prehistoric land will be divided into five different arenas across a single stage. Furthermore, the X-Mansion will also be added to the mix, featuring one arena that will change as the battle progresses.
Many improvements were added based on the reception to the first Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta, including performance optimizations, balance adjustments, and UX upgrades. Furthermore, the online lobbies are set to make a comeback, with new online lobby avatars added.
Players who participated in the first closed beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will automatically be invited to this upcoming trial. However, you can also opt in for enrollment on the official PlayStation page. While there's no guarantee that everyone will get to play the game this December, it never hurts to try.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released in 2026 for PS5 and PC.
