The clock is ticking, and Doctor Doom is coming. Soon, the multiverse will be at the brink of collapse, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes will need to rise to the occasion to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole a chance to survive. The upcoming crossover is one of the most anticipated superhero projects ever, as evidenced by the 275 million views generated by the cast reveal alone. We all want to get a taste of what's coming, and our wishes might have been granted.
Rumor has it that the first official teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be released in December, as it will play before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. So, while we wait for the big day to come, it's time to turn our attention to what the actors working in the upcoming MCU film are saying. Given that there's so much secrecy surrounding the project, not much has been revealed so far. Fortunately, one iconic Marvel hero finally broke the silence and gave us an idea of what to expect when Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble once again.
Channing Tatum says Avengers: Doomsday will make fans 'lose their minds'
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Channing Tatum was asked about Avengers: Doomsday and what fans can expect from the highly anticipated MCU crossover. While the actor playing Gambit couldn't give away any story details, he did reveal that there will be moments that fans are not ready for:
"As I was reading [the script], I was like 'no, how are they going to do this?' (...) You're just not ready. I don't know how to describe it to you. It's gonna make your brains ooze out of your ears, in the way that I knew, when Blade walks on screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, people were just going to physically lose their actual minds. It's that, but times 50."
Perhaps the most interesting tidbit is that Channing draws a comparison to the moment Blade appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, and says Doomsday has moments like that, "but times 50". The reason why Eric Brooks' entrance worked so well is that very few were expecting him to make an appearance in the first place. He was a very welcome surprise, and chances are that we're about to experience moments like that again soon.
So far, over 25 characters have been officially confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that more unannounced heroes will also steal the spotlight. There are clearly surprises in store that are being kept until the movie's release, and given that the Multiverse Saga is coming to an end, this is one of the last chances for fans to see the participation of mind-blowing characters that otherwise wouldn't be able to join the party.
It's been highly reported that a version of Ghost Rider will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes, while a recent scoop claims that a Spider-Man variant will appear in the movie (and there's a chance that it could be either Tom Holland's, Andrew Garfield's, or Tobey Maguire's). Besides, given that Hugh Jackman recently suited up as Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine, it wouldn't be unexpected for him to join the rest of the X-Men in Doomsday as well.
Anything could happen storywise, and anyone can make an appearance. Hopefully, Avengers: Doomsday won't be a cameo fest just for the sake of it. With a bit of luck, fans will indeed lose their minds while also witnessing a coherent narrative that reaches unprecedented heights for the MCU as a whole. If so, then Channing Tatum's comments could even fall short compared to what Marvel has in store.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec.18, 2026.
