One of the biggest perks of any Avengers movie is watching multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes come together to fight against a greater evil. Character interactions we never thought possible come to be, and unlikely team-ups instantly become fan favorites. Fortunately, one of the biggest live-action crossovers is yet to come courtesy of next year's Avengers: Doomsday. Earth's Mightiest Heroes are set to assemble once more on the big screen, and the best part is that they won't be alone.
The X-Men, New Avengers, and Fantastic Four will all rise to the occasion and fight against Doctor Doom. However, just because many characters from different franchises are set to make an appearance doesn't mean that every single MCU hero will be there. So far, it has been rumored that heavy hitters like Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch won't be in Avengers: Doomsday, while the actors behind Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and Daredevil have all confirmed they will also miss out on the highly anticipated movie.
With so much uncertainty as to who will be in Avengers: Doomsday, fans began to wonder whether one of the MCU's most powerful characters would get a chance to steal the spotlight or not. Fortunately, it seems we may finally have an answer.
Brie Larson could've just teased her return as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday
Since her MCU debut, Carol Danvers has been a true force to be reckoned with. Captain Marvel helped turn the tide in favor of the Avengers in the final confrontation against Thanos by singlehandedly destroying the villain's ship, and she has been aiding thousands of beings across the cosmos. That's why she could be of great help in fighting Doom's invasion, and it looks like that's exactly what she'll do.

Brie Larson shared a picture on her social media pages, taking part in the November 2025 US elections. However, there's something unique about the actress in that she's wearing a blonde wig, and even posted the caption: "ignore the wig!!". Furthermore, it also appears she's purposely trying to hide her wardrobe by wearing a large hooded sweatshirt over it. Of course, this has sparked speculation online that Captain Marvel's comeback is imminent.
Principal photography for Avengers: Doomsday took place in the UK and wrapped in September 2025. At first glance, it would seem very unlikely for Brie to be currently filming any scenes as Carol Danvers, considering that the movie is now in post-production. However, big Marvel productions are no strangers to dedicating a lot of time to reshoots, which could certainly be the case here. Besides, it wouldn't have been necessary for Brie to be in the UK next to other Marvel stars, as she could've filmed her scenes isolated, with her character being added into the mix with a bit of VFX magic.
Reliable Insider Alex Perez not only claimed that Captain Marvel will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but that she'll be one of "the main characters in that movie". During the entirety of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, few movies have actually set up the events of Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventure, with The Marvels being one of them. After all, Captain Marvel's latest movie concluded with the creation of a tear between realities, which resulted in Monica Rambeau being trapped in a different universe altogether.
Given that Monica now lives in the same world where the X-Men are likely to come from, it's apparent that she'll be integral to Avengers: Doomsday, which would mean Captain Marvel will also have a major arc. Scooper James Mack even revealed that the two beloved heroes will face each other for the survival of their own worlds (Captain Marvel fighting for the MCU, and Monica protecting the X-Men's reality).
For a long time now, it has been rumored that a second cast reveal event will take place for Avengers: Doomsday. If that turns out to be the case, then chances are we'll finally have an official confirmation about Carol Danvers' involvement in the movie. Furthermore, it has been reported that the official teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be in December, so if everything else fails, then perhaps this first-look could finally showcase Captain Marvel in action once again.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
