Fans around the world recently gathered during a five-hour livestream that revealed which of our favorite heroes and villains are going to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Fortunately, there was something for everyone's liking. Beloved fan-favorites such as Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes will steal the spotlight yet again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while veterans such as Ian McKellen's Magneto are bound to make the comeback of a lifetime. But while there was a lot to unpack (with over 25 characters being announced), we couldn't help but miss those who didn't have a chair with their name on it.
Heroes such as Tom Holland's Spider-Man or Hugh Jackman's Wolverine were missing in the initial reveal, even when everyone hoped to see them join the rest of the Avengers. Fortunately, there's a silver lining for all of those who were missing. During CinemaCon 2025, Kevin Feige confirmed that the complete cast hasn't been disclosed yet. But who exactly are those waiting to be revealed? While it's natural to assume that some surprises might be saved right until the movie's release, we might get a glimpse behind the curtain earlier than expected.

Brie Larson could've teased Avengers: Doomsday appearance as Captain Marvel
It's time to soar higher, further, and faster. In an Instagram story, Brie Larson might've teased her return as Carol Danvers in Avengers: Doomsday, which just started filming in the UK. On the bright side, she stated that more will be revealed on Thursday, which means it won't be long before we get some concrete answers:
"Now it's time for a new chapter - more on that on Thursday"
At first glance, there's nothing that suggests Brie Larson is talking about a Marvel comeback with her very short comment. However, things start to make sense when we look at the bigger picture. For starters, insider account Marvel Guy revealed that the second part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast could be announced on Thursday as well, which coincides with the date Brie is teasing. Besides, industry scooper Jeff Sneider reportedly revealed the remaining heroes set to appear in the movie, and Captain Marvel is one of them.
Besides, we can't forget that the last time audiences saw Captain Marvel, she teamed up with Miss Marvel, who'll show up in Avengers: Doomsday as revealed by leaked concept art. Besides, Monica Rambeau was also a part of The Marvels team-up, and we can assume she'll play a role in the movie as well given that she's trapped in the parallel universe from which the X-Men are from. With that in mind, it would be strange if both Kamala and Monica aid Earth's Mightiest Heroes while Captain Marvel is nowhere to be seen.
But why would Marvel announce the second part of the crossover's cast this Thursday, even when the first part was unveiled not so long ago? Well, it all might come down to the timing of which certain deals were closed. As reported by reliable insider Daniel Ritchman, Halle Berry was close to finalizing a deal to appear in Avengers: Doomsday days after the initial cast announcement. So there's a chance that the House of Mouse couldn't legally announce that some characters will show up in the movie yet, even when they indeed are in the script. So now that a whole extra month has passed, there's a chance more stars have finally signed their contract and will be flying to the UK just in time for shooting.
Captain Marvel is one of Earth's greatest defenders against the unknown. She's considered one of the MCU's most powerful heroes, right alongside the likes of the Scarlet Witch and now Bob from the Thunderbolts. With that in mind, it would be strange if other characters who have fought alongside her (like Thor) didn't even think about calling her once Doom arrives and the situation is more dire than ever. Besides, the cosmic heroine has proved that she cares about the dangers in outer space, and wouldn't you know it, but it was recently revealed that the MCU is facing a "huge space crisis".
No matter which way we see it, all signs indicate that Captain Marvel will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and we wouldn't want it any other way. Fortunately, it won't be long before Brie Larson reveals what the surprise is all about, and whether it's related in some form to Marvel or not.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on May 1, 2026.
