We all love a good Star Wars story. The classic cinematic franchise has been entertaining us all in both the movie theaters and on our television sets for decades, and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing things down in the future. For the show's devoted fans, that's a very good thing for it means that we all get to spend that much longer in our favorite galaxy so far, far away.
There are a lot of projects in the Star Wars universe to be excited about in the coming years. The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to arrive in movie theaters next year, while Star Wars: Starfighter - led by Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth - is coming the year after that. Meanwhile, we also have Dave Filoni's Mando-Verse movie to look forward to and that long-awaited sequel to the Skywalker Saga focused on Rey.
There is also another Star Wars title that fans are looking forward to seeing in the near-future. Unfortunately, a recent update has confirmed it won't be coming anytime soon.
New Disney Plus trailer confirms Ahsoka season 2 won't premiere this year
Well it's official: Ahsoka season 2 won't be premiering this year. Disney has unveiled a new trailer for all of the content that viewers and fans can look forward to in the second half of 2025 on both the Disney Plus streaming platform and Hulu. While the former boasts major titles like Wonder Man and the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the latter offers up major titles like Alien: Earth and the new season of Only Murders in the Building, the beloved Star Wars series wasn't mentioned.
The idea of Ahsoka season 2 premiering in 2025 always felt somewhat unfeasible considering the scope of the show, but fans were hopeful that the recent updates about its major returning Star Wars legend earlier this year might have suggested it could make a 2025 premiere date work. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will be the case as it seems that the earlier reported 2026 release date is looking more and more likely.

Ahsoka is a spinoff of The Mandalorian, with Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the lightsaber-wielding Jedi Ahsoka Tano. Dawson made a heck of an impression on an episode of Mando's series, which is incredible considering how high hopes were for the character's debut, and that heightened the anticipation for her own series. The show proved to be a big hit for Disney Plus, with the streamer renewing it for a second season rather quickly, ensuring that the future of the Star Wars brand on Disney Plus would continue for some time to come.
The series could very well be the last of its kind. Ahsoka was one of the many Star Wars shows created for Disney Plus but, as of right now, it's the only ongoing one with its future secure for the moment. The Mandalorian season 4 seems unlikely now that the two main characters are headlining their own movie, The Acolyte was cancelled, while The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi all reached their natural conclusions. Although Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has not had its fate confirmed by the streamer, the fact that it is currently the least-watched Star Wars show of them all unfortunately doesn't bode well for it.
With all of that in mind, anticipation is high for Ahsoka season 2 as audiences are genuinely excited to revisit that character and enjoy the Star Wars Disney Plus era for as long as it lasts. With the franchise clearly prioritizing movie adventures again, it might not be as long as fans had hoped.
