4 characters most likely to die in The Boys season 5 finale (and 5 who will live)

The series finale of Prime Video’s The Boys will have heartbreaking deaths. Here are the characters who will and won’t survive the last episode.

The series finale of The Boys is almost here. And in a show like this, there will be a lot of dead people. The Prime Video series has had fans enthralled throughout its run, but season 5 has been one of the most crushing installments yet, as the creative team make it clear that the end is nigh for many of the Supes and the Boys. The trailer for the season 5 finale confirms that it's going to be a big one, too.

So far this season, A-Train, Firecracker, Black Noir (the second one), and Frenchie have died. I initially assumed that Frenchie would die with Kimiko, like in the comic books. But that wasn’t the case. Now, with one episode remaining, there will likely be more character deaths in the season 5 finale.

With that in mind, let’s look at who’s left and if they’ll survive The Boys season 5 episode 8.

Homelander: Dies

The satisfying ending for The Boys season 5 would indeed be for Homelander to meet his demise. The character has been one of the worst people in any comic book show because he’s the epitome of everything most people hate. When we think of the worst/best supervillains of all time, he will be at the top of that list.

After all he has done, it's hard to imagine that the series finale would let Homelander live. However, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Prime Video series throws a curveball and leaves him alive, but without his superpowers.

Hughie and Starlight: Survive

There’s no doubt both Hughie and Starlight will survive The Boys series finale. This story has been about their relationship as much as it has been about Homelander versus Billy Butcher. And since it’s likely that this show will have some semblance of a happy ending, letting them live happily ever after is the way to go.

After all of the darkness that the pair have had to ensure, now is their moment for peace. And with that, they can ride off into the sunset while the villains of this world burn.

Stan Edgar: Survives

Quick and to the point, there is no way that Stan Edgar dies. None. He isn’t as smart as Sage, but he’s more practical, rational, and calculated. He was biding his time because he knew that Homelander would eventually lose. As he put it, Homelander is "bad product."

With that in mind, he's going to use those calculated skills to ensure that he avoids the brunt of what's coming to Homelander and, somehow, someway, he'll make it out alive.

Ashley Barrett: Survives

Ashley Barrett got everything she ever wanted throughout the course of her stint on The Boys, but there will be repercussions for her actions. Someone will have to take the fall for everything that has happened. Instead of Jessica Bradley - who bore the blame of it all in the comics - it will be Ashley in the season 5 finale.

Meanwhile, Stan Edgar will likely become head of Vought International.

Oh Father: Dies

It's hard to see a finale in which Oh Father makes it out of The Boys alive. Annie is likely going to kill him because of what he’s become. He was once a true believer in Christianity and someone she looked up to. Now, Oh Father is blasphemous and a big part of Homelander going from thinking he’s God to believing it. Plus, she owes him for their fight in episode 6.

Yeah, the odds of this particular character surviving the finale are low.

Mother's Milk and Kimiko: Die

I struggled with this one because I want both M.M. and Kimiko to live. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will. There have to be emotional deaths in the series finale to break the fans' hearts. In this case, it will come at the expense of the two most beloved members of the Boys.

With that in mind, we're going to predict that neither one of Mother's Milk or Kimiko survive the finale.

Billy Butcher: Dies

Billy Butcher, the other character at the center of The Boys is likely going to die in season 5 episode 8. His entire arc has been building towards this moment, so as we are at the series finale, it's hard to see the show going anywhere else beyond this point.

Not only are we predicting that Butcher will due but I think Hughie will kill him. There will be a moment when Butcher decides that all of the supes have to die. Since that would mean Annie and Kimiko would be killed, Hughie will finally fight Butcher and sadly kill him. However, it will be a relief for Butcher, who’s hated his own life for years.

The Deep: Survives

Sure, you’d assume that The Deep would be among the dead in The Boys' finale, but no. The Deep will be forced to live with having been Homelander’s lapdog and being part of the downfall of the country and the world. He can’t even get in the water again.

To Kevin, all of that is a fate worse than death.
