MCU fans are loving season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, which has Charlie Cox reprising his role as blind attorney Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. The actor has been terrific returning in the MCU with Echo, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and now Born Again.
However, fans may forget that Cox also voiced Daredevil in the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series. It should be clarified that the show doesn’t take place in the mainstream MCU but on an alternate Earth (listed as Earth-86445), one where Peter Parker is in high school, his father is alive in prison, and Peter’s mentor is Norman Osborn.
Daredevil popped up in the first season for a fight with Spider-Man that showcased how much better he was in combat. Cox provided the voice and fans might expect him to return.
However, talking at C2E2 (via Popverse), Cox said he honestly isn’t sure if he’s in the second season or not due to how his voice work unfolds.
"I actually don’t know if I am [in it]. The show is great. I was in the first season. I don’t know if I’m in the second season. I have no idea. It is an awesome show. When I did the first season of that, I didn’t get scripts. It’s very secretive like our show is, so I just got scenes. So, it’s kind of fun because I know what I say, but then I get to watch it and enjoy it.”
Voice acting does work much differently than many believe, as it’s quite rare for more than one actor in a movie or TV show to perform together. Recording lines in a booth and only reading the part of the script your character is in is pretty standard. So it is believable that Cox was providing lines for either Born Again voice-overs or another project and not getting it’s for Neighborhood.
Fans are hopeful for that, but still hoping to see the live-action team-up many expect!

Obviously, a question came up if Cox will be appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Cox did a cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and fans are eager to see him and Tom Holland team up on screen.
Cox was cagy about that, fully aware of how such speculation can turn into rumors that overwhelm coverage.
"It’s so dangerous to answer that question because within ten minutes there are headlines saying, 'Daredevil star Charlie Cox wants this character to show up,' and then people start believing it. I always imagined that at some point in that big of a universe, in that big of a world, that he would team up with Spider-Man.”
Naturally, Cox won’t confirm if this means the heroes team up in either Brand New Day or Avengers: Doomsday. Given the long friendship between the pair in the comics, it seems impossible that the MCU writers don’t want that to happen on screen. It just needs the right timing to happen.
Hopefully, fans will see (or at least hear) Cox and Spider-Man team up again to continue this fun partnership!
