Daredevil: Born Again just gave fans the team-up they've been longing for

Ever since Netflix's Daredevil was canceled, Marvel fans have been asking to see more of this iconic team up, and it finally happened.

Just like Matt Murdock once disappeared from the public eye for a long time after being crushed under a collapsed building, real-life audiences thought his character was gone after the collapse of a deal. When the Netflix and Disney collaboration came to an end, the future of Daredevil was put into question. For years, we couldn't do anything but watch as other Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes stole the spotlight for themselves and reminisce about the days when Matt enjoyed that same luck. Fortunately, everything changed with the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again.

Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, Karen Page, Benjamin Poindexter, Wilson Fisk, and Vanessa Marianna are back on the small screen. However, things have been drastically different this time as opposed to the previous adaptation. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen and The Kingpin of crime attempted to escape their double life, Bullseye shot and (seemingly) killed Foggy in the very first episode, Karen Page moved to San Francisco, and a new cast of secondary characters made their debut. But perhaps one of the biggest changes has to do with the iconic crime couple, Wilson and Vanessa.

What was once an unbreakable duo has gone through a lot of hardships in Daredevil: Born Again. But even when their marriage was put into question, fans have been delighted to see them act as a team one more time.

Wilson Fisk and Vanessa Marianna are a team again in Daredevil: Born Again

There is a huge gap between the events of Netflix's Daredevil and Born Again. Unfortunately, we don't quite know every detail of what happened between the two series. Somehow, Palpatine returned and Wilson Fisk was released from prison. The latter then attempted to rebuild his empire by taking over the Tracksuit Mafia and raising a protege in the form of Maya Lopez. However, this strategy quite literally backfired, as she ended up shooting him in the eye.

After nearly meeting death, Wilson needed to take some time to recover. Unfortunately, he also left his wife behind in the process without much explanation. During this period, Vanessa had an affair with a man called Adam — an event that didn't go unnoticed by Wilson. So when the villainous couple finally reunited after many months, their encounter was anything but friendly. It was strange to see their relationship on thin ice even when they were such a great team in the Netflix adaptation. Fortunately, the two slowly grew closer together by going to couples therapy.

During the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again, Wilson finally revealed the truth to his love. He took Vanessa to a basement where Adam was locked away. Furthermore, in the middle of the room, there was a table with the cell's key and a gun. Kingpin states that if he can't have Vanessa, he "cannot be". While not explicitly said, it's implied that Wilson gives his wife a choice: Either him or Adam make it out of that room alive, but not the two.

In a big moment of tension, Vanessa grabs the gun and shoots Adam four times in a row. Just like that, a twisted relationship is built on top of a corpse. Audiences then see the Mayor and his wife attend a Black and White Ball, and for the first time in the entire series, it seems like the two are finally on the same page.

The most dangerous Marvel couple is back, and we couldn't be any more excited. Granted, it can be argued that it's a little disappointing to see them fix their relationship so close to the finale. But, on the bright side, the stage is now set for a second season where the two can overtake Hell's Kitchen once again, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Daredevil: Born Again is now available on Disney Plus.
