It looks like Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is making a big time jump to back up its very timely storyline!

Daredevil: Born Again was a fantastic success when released in 2025. The return of Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear stunned viewers from the first by killing off beloved friend Foggy Nelson in the opening moments before jumping a few months ahead in time. It took Matt Murdock a bit to get back into costume to fight crime.

The key plotline was Wilson Kisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) becoming the Mayor of New York City and leading a crusade to ban vigilantes. Speaking to SFX Magazine, showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed that season 2 picks up six months after the season 1 finale.

“The Fisk administration at this point has really taken hold. At the same time, there’s a bubbling up of an underground. New York is being transformed.”

Season 2 will boast some big names, like the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones with Scardapane confirming the series will address the passage of time between the end of the Marvel Netflix shows and now.

“One of the things we’ve leaned into is that time has passed between the end of the Netflix show and the beginning of ours. We’re acknowledging that. These characters have matured; they’ve gone through life. And Jessica Jones, bourbon-swilling smartass – what’s it like for her to mature seven years?"

It’s an intriguing question that will build to the storyline of Daredevil recruiting other street-level heroes to help him try and take Fisk down. That feels like a show ripped from the headlines, which is something the producers didn’t expect.

It’s really not hard to see some parallels between the season 2 plotline of Fisk asserting more control over New York and a private army rounding up citizens and current events in the United States. It’s not lost on Scardapane, who points out how the storyline was coming from the Daredevil comics first.

“There are a few sequences that were shot a year ago that could be off the news, and it’s weirding all of us out.”

As for how this new energy has sparked the show, he added, "I have mixed feelings. Stan Lee once said that he wanted to make his comic books a reflection of the world you saw outside your window. Then I also believe that what's fun about the genre, and definitely fun in working with superheroes, is you're dealing with huge archetypes, almost mythological characters, and that’s fun writing."

Scardapane confirmed the Fisk storyline will be wrapped up by the end of season 2 and the show will then move on to what he feels are more grounded tales that echo the classic Frank Miller run on the character. He even seems to enjoy being able to move on from the political intrigue to more traditional super-hero antics and Matt’s life as an attorney.

“So yeah, it was fun to play in the realm of politics, but I like something a little more street level, personally."

As Born Again returns, it’ll be fascinating watching this shockingly timely story hit harder than Daredevil fans had expected.
