When we last saw World Emperor Victor Von Doom (One World under Doom No. 8), he was gloating after defeating the combined might of the greatest and most powerful heroes on Earth.

His proud moment was cut short after realizing his victory came at a cost. His final attack killed his goddaughter, Valeria Richard. Of course, Doom was not going to let his mistake stand.

WARNING! SPOILERS FOR ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM NO. 9!

The final issue of One World Under Doom began with a story about Victor and Valeria, but as a fairytale. The soul of Valeria appears and says she’s too old for such stories, so Doom tells her the truth. He explains that he went to the gods and other cosmic beings to return her soul and repair her body. It wasn’t until he went to the Living Tribunal that his request was granted. However, it came at a cost other than his death. What that is remains to be seen because Doom refuses to tell Valeria.

During his final moments, Victor returns to speak with Reed Richards. As always, the two debate on what the world could and should be. Reed admits that if anyone could have united the world, it was his old friend. The problem is, as Reed says, “You (Doom) made fascism appealing, even attractive, you sold it to good people as a reasonable option–and it destroyed all it touched.” Despite the truth in that, Doom said he hadn’t come to debate philosophy. He came because he was dying and had a request.

Reed wasn’t going to grant Victor’s plea, but Doom said it wasn’t a request. As he fades away, the former world emperor tells Reed to take care of his world and leaves his iconic mask behind. Inside it is “The Final Will and Testament of Victor Von Doom.” It gives the terms of who can gain access to everything he owned (including Latveria). Unfortunately, the message is cut off. All readers know is that Reed is shocked and disturbed by whatever is required.

One thing that Marvel Comics fans know is that a new Sorcerer Supreme is coming. While the series is called Sorcerer Supreme and has Scarlet Witch on the cover, the title first goes to Agatha Harkness. How Wanda takes it from her will come in Steve Orlando, Bernard Chang, and Ruth Redmond’s upcoming series.

As for everything else that was in Doom’s possession, Marvel Comics readers will have to wait for the upcoming comic The Will of Doom. The description says, “As the Fantastic Four deal with the fallout from ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, they're faced with big questions and a surprising new global menace! Will the White House have their backs? Will…the RED HULK? The next stage of the Marvel Universe starts here!”
