Marvel fans all over the world have been talking about one thing today: Avengers: Doomsday. The first teaser trailer for the December 2026 movie that is set to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever has been officially released in theaters this week (and leaked online), so it's understandable that MCU aficionados are obsessed about the possibility of that movie becoming tangible.
However, what's really interesting about the year-long build to the MCU juggernaut is that there is another Marvel movie set for release before that one. Yep, that's right: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to be one of the big movies in the summer of 2026, coming out ahead of the fifth Avengers movie (although it was initially planned for release after it).
Now, we might have just learned when we can expect the first trailer for that one.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer 'most likely' coming around Super Bowl time
According to reliable insider Alex Perez (via their monthly Q&A with fans, published on The Cosmic Circus), the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day will likely premiere sometime between now and the Super Bowl 2026. When asked by a fan when they think we will see the first look at the film, Perez responded "Next year, most likely around the Superbowl or earlier."
For reference, the Super Bowl takes place on February 8, 2026, meaning that, in less than two months, we could finally have our first look at Spidey's next cinematic adventure. And honestly, there is a lot of scope for this to be a realistic possibility, especially as Marvel Studios has a history of unveiling new trailers at the premier event.
During the franchise's game-changing Infinity Saga, the studio unveiled trailers for Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, and Avengers: Endgame and it has proceeded to use the platform to release new looks at its more recent films. In 2022, a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released, in 2023 there was the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer (along with a new teaser for immediate release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania). Then, in 2024, the first trailer for juggernaut Deadpool and Wolverine was released while Thunderbolts* took center stage earlier this year.

This has been a successful strategy for Marvel (and other studios) and it's easy to see why. The Super Bowl reels in a large amount of eyeballs, with 127.7 million people tuning into this year's edition. To say that this is the kind of platform the MCU needs to launch its next film(s) would be a major understatement. If we're being honest, Spider-Man 4 probably doesn't need a boost - Spidey remains one of the franchise's most successful characters and, well, he's Spider-Man! Regardless of some recent MCU shortcomings, Brand New Day is destined to be a success - after all, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home made a total of $1.9 billion post-pandemic! Nevertheless, the boost of millions and millions of people instantly consuming the first trailer? Of course, Marvel and Sony would take that!
And, as we've seen before, Marvel isn't opposed to featuring two teasers at the Super Bowl. So that commitment to Avengers: Doomsday's promo train starting early could very well lead to a trailer for that one also being showcased at the event. After all, Spider-Man is a Sony and Marvel co-production; perhaps the MCU would also like to reveal to the Super Bowl audience what it's all building to.
We'll have to wait and see if the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer does ultimately premiere at the most famous sporting event of the year, but there is a strong argument to suggest that it will. With the film coming out before Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel will have to shift to marketing it in the near-future (and you can bet Sony will want that as well), so perhaps the Super Bowl will be the place to make that happen.
Starring Tom Holland as the webslinger once again, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Peter Parker fully commit to his life as a hero, crossing over with fellow MCU veterans including Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprise their respective roles as MJ and Ned Leeds from the previous trilogy while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joins in an unknown role. The film is set to launch a brand new Spider-Man trilogy.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
