The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a collection of characters from all over the cosmos. Heck, with the Multiverse Saga still ongoing, we can't even refine it to just one cosmos, as the franchise has welcomed in characters from all across the Marvel Multiverse, going as far as to reintroduce characters we haven't seen since Fox's X-Men movies and the early days of Sony's Spider-Man movies. It's been a real joy for longtime fans, that's for sure.
In the world of comic book adaptations, characters can come and go as they please; even departures and death isn't inevitable anymore. With that in mind, fans are hoping that a number of gone-but-not-forgotten characters might resurface in the upcoming two-part conclusion to the Multiverse Saga of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The cast of the former was recently confirmed and there are multiple MCU veterans not in it, it seems. With more returnees likely being held as surprises, there is one actor who would love to reprise his role in the upcoming movies.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Will Poulter wants to bring Adam Warlock back
Will Poulter would be down to return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. The star portrayed Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and he would love to come back in the not-too-distant future, telling ComicBook.com that he "had so much fun playing the character".
"Oh, dude, I’d love it. I had so much fun playing my character, and so, yeah, if they come calling, I’m definitely picking up."
Adam Warlock is a major character in the Marvel Comics lore and, prior to his Guardians debut, he was one of the most signficant characters in the source material not to make an MCU appearance. Poulter's debut as the hero solved that problem, but it left audiences wanting a little bit more, mostly in a good way. But there were those who felt that a character the scale of Adam Warlock deserved a bigger platform and a more long-term character arc.
That long-term arc may be explored at some point, however. When we last saw Adam, he had become a member of the new generation of the Guardians of the Galaxy, looking to prove himself as a hero after his previous questionable alliance. The only issue is that it's unclear where - or when - the Guardians of the Galaxy will pop up again.

The third film was the final in director James Gunn's trilogy (before he became the new co-chairman and CEO of DC Studios), so it is unknown who will take over the characters' journeys going forward. The easy option for the time being is to have them return in one of the upcoming Avengers movies as it would allow us to catch up with them all without the-powers-that-be having the added pressure of answering any questions about future movies.
The cast of Avengers: Doomsday has now been confirmed (or at least the first wave of it) and there aren't any members of the Guardians among them. Even star Chris Pratt, who portrays former leader Star-Lord, isn't expect to be in the film due to prior filming commitments on The Terminal List season 2, so it's not looking like we'll be seeing Adam Warlock, Rocket, or any of the others in the immediate future.
That being said, Avengers: Infinity War was a stacked movie that gave way to Avengers: Endgame, which boasted an even larger cast, so we very well could see the same situation here with Doomsday and Secret Wars. Here's hoping that is the case and that Adam Warlock, and the rest of the Guardians, appear to help bring the Multiverse Saga to a close.
