You couldn’t have asked for a better premiere for season 2 of Gen V. The series returned with the creative gore that fans of The Boys universe are used to seeing. Thankfully, like usual, it wasn't violence without a purpose. This is where fans learn how the tests for Compound V started... and failed.
Then the show reintroduces the characters, furthering the story of what happened between the last season of the show and The Boys season 4. Among the occurrences is the death of Andre Anderson (played by the late Chance Perdomo), who died protecting prisoners of the Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center.
The most crucial part of the three-part premiere came in third episode, and it involves Marie Moreau, who learns that she’s part of a Vought experiment called Project Odessa. More importantly, she was delivered by this season’s newest antagonist, Dean Cipher. It explains why Cipher is so invested in her becoming stronger. If this writer had to guess, this is the twist from The Boys comic book. Instead of Black Noir being created to kill Homelander, Marie was.

What we should expect from Gen V season 2 episode 4
The next episode of Gen V will follow the ending where Jordan Li took ownership of almost killing Cate. It’s one thing for Jordan to admit what they did. It’s another to publicly call out Vought International in front of a group of bloodthirsty college supes.
For Vought International to get its pound of flesh, Dean Cipher tells Marie that she will be forced to fight her partner, Jordan. The preview above shows Marie telling Cipher she wouldn’t, but being emphatically told that she doesn’t have a choice.
One thing to look for in this fight is Marie gaining more control over her powers. Cipher didn’t just do this because he’s petty (because he is). He understands that the only way for Marie to get better is to practice. And being in a high-stakes and emotional situation is the best scenario for that to happen.
On the positive side, Jordan confessing to their assault could help Cate heal from her injury. One of the reasons her powers are off is likely due to trauma. She was attacked by a friend and then left for dead. Cate may have betrayed them, but she’s starting to see how wrong she was. Cate isn’t being forgiven yet, but this could be the first step in getting back in her friends’ good graces.
