The previous episode of Gen V was scheduled to have the battle of the century, Marie Moreau vs. Jordan Li. They refused to fight each other until Cipher properly motivated them, telling Jordan and Marie that if they didn’t go along with Vought's premium live event, they and Emma would go back to the Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center. Thankfully, Cate and Emma had a plan after Marie's discovery.

While working on her powers, Marie realized she didn’t sense any Compound V in Cipher’s blood. If they could get Cipher on tape admitting he wasn’t superhuman, he’d be kicked out of Godolkin University, and everyone would be safe. That didn’t work because Cypher was two steps ahead of them. He then uses his mind control powers on Jordan and forces them to fight Marie.

In the end, Marie wins the fight and proves Cipher’s point of being more powerful than she thinks. Sadly, that was the only good news in this episode. Cipher knows that Cate was in on trying to get him caught on tape, and the preview for the upcoming episode of Gen V season 2 shows her punishment. Cate is going to the Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center.

What to expect in Gen V season 2 episode 5

Cate is about to learn what happens when you cross Vought International. You may say that after everything she did between the season 1 finale of Gen V and season 4 of The Boys, she deserves it. However, no one should be imprisoned for doing nothing wrong and treated like a lab rat or an animal. The one good thing that may come from this is Cate getting a better hold on her powers. Sadly, it may come after something traumatic.

Meanwhile, Cipher will continue to push Marie to be better and stronger. We should expect a better understanding of what Cipher wants and why he’s pushing her so hard. As I've mentioned in previous articles, this will lead to her being the key to defeating Homelander.

We may even find out more about Project Odessa in this episode. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out.
