Invincible season 3 episode 5 is titled “This Was Supposed to be Easy" and that really was an appropriate name. Everything from the big fight with a dragon - who's really the boss of The Order, Mr. Liu - to Mark and Eve attempting to date in secret when Debbie already knew about it.
Speaking of Mark’s personal life, he wants to move out and live with Eve, but that costs money. Since he no longer works for Cecil, Eve comes up with a brilliant idea as an alternative. That idea: To create Invincible Inc - a company where Mark would be on call to protect companies and their assets. Too bad Eve is and looks 19 years old and that made the warden of a superhero prison skeptical. Luckily a dragon tried to break Multi-Paul out of prison and help them gain their trust.
This was an amazing episode with a lot of character development that didn’t happen in the source material. For example, Oliver makes friends and seems to care about human life. It makes you wonder how long this can last. This could be a ploy to shock viewers when he stops caring. Or just maybe the death of his friends is what does that. That could happen during the Invincible War.
Each episode of Invincible season 3 has begun with an eye-opening scene. This was no different. First, Multi-Paul attempts to break out of prison in a bloody and savage way. He kept creating duplicates of himself until the pressure broke down the cell door. Unfortunately for his duplicates, they were crushed to death. This became another example of the show doing things differently, but maybe even better than the comic.
Then it was on to his and Dupli-Kate’s origin story. This is where you see how the two siblings parted ways and went down different career paths. You couldn’t help but feel bad for them despite what they do for a living.
And then there’s Titan. In the comic books, he was a throw-away character. Here he helped his community and was a loving family man. He's also much smarter than he was in the Invincible comics. Hopefully, there will be more of him going forward. But knowing this show, Titan's story will have a tragic end especially since he has a snake on his team.
