We've got some bad news about Invincible season 4 episode 8

Invincible season 4 episode 8's release date is almost upon us. Unfortunately, there's a bittersweet side to that as well.

It's hard to believe that we've almost experienced another full season of Prime Video's Invincible. The beloved streaming show adapts Robert Kirkman's legendary comic book series of the same name and it has been thrilling audiences all over the world since it first premiered back in 2021. That debut outing, a two and a half year gap, and three more seasons later, and here we are in the midst of its fourth season.

This one has tested Mark Grayson in new ways, particularly as he faced off against Conquest a second time and had to reunite with his father Omni-Man after the latter unexpectedly showed up on Earth for the first time in a very long time. Yes, it's been a wild ride for the show this season, and in rather bittersweet news, we have just one installment of this particular season to go.

Invincible season 4 episode 8 is the last episode of the season

Invincible season 4 episode 8, titled "Don't Leave Me Hanging Here", will premiere on Wednesday, April 22, at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. CT, and 2:00 a.m. MT. If you've been watching the show all season (or even throughout its whole run), that won't be surprising to you. What might be surprising to you, however, is that it will also serve as the final episode of the season.

Yes, "Don't Leave Me Hanging Here" is unfortunately the season 4 finale, which means that it will begin another year-long wait for the next season of the show. If it feels like these past seven episodes have gone around way too quickly, that's probably because they have. Shorter seasons are a staple of modern, streaming television and Invincible never goes beyond eight. The triple-episode premiere, which Prime Video is renowned for, also shortens the run further, as it lasts just over a month instead of the typical seven-week run that an eight-episode season might have.

While the thought of another lengthy wait for more episodes of Invincible is a little disheartening to fans of the show, there is a lot of good news. To begin with, next week's episode is the season finale. If you've been watching the show since the beginning, you'll know that it always ups the ante as it heads towards its finales. Heck, the past few episodes are proof of that, as Mark's showdown with Conquest in the fifth installment and what went down with Thaddeus in the seventh (no spoilers here) being proof of that alone.

What's more is that there are plenty more adventures for the Invincible crew on the horizon. Prime Video have already renewed the show for a fifth season, with the Amazon streamer announcing that voice work has already been completed for that one. With that in mind, if there was ever any concern that the show might face another multi-year wait for new episodes (like we saw between the first two seasons), that is no longer the case as the show is produced ahead of schedule now.

With that in mind, we can probably expect season 5 to premiere next spring (with another March debut being the most likely result here). Better yet, there are plans for somewhere between seven to nine seasons of the show. So, provided we all keep watching, there is more Invincible on the cards for many more years to come. With that in mind, the year-long wait for season 5 doesn't seem too bad.

So. sit back, relax, and prepare yourself for the Invincible season 4 finale because it will undoubtedly be a big one, as Mark Grayson, Omni-Man, and the rest of the show's iconic characters take on the remainder of the Viltrumite War. It's gonna be epic!
