After the cancellation of the Marvel Netflix series, superhero fans had the same question on their minds: Would the Defenders ever join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if so, when would it happen? Eventually, The Man Without Fear made his long-awaited return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while the Kingpin of Crime wreaked havoc in the Hawkeye Disney+ series. Furthermore, the two of them are now stealing the show in Daredevil: Born Again. But what about the rest of the street-level heroes?
Pictures taken from the Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 set have confirmed that Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Finn Jones' Iron Fist, and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones are bound to reunite a decade after The Defenders series was released on Netflix. However, the latter is confirmed to return to the MCU even sooner. With every new episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, fans have kept their eyes peeled to see if the super-powered private investigator makes an appearance. So far, the wait hasn't paid off, but that's about to change soon.
Jessica Jones is set to make her 'official' MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 6
She's (nearly) back. After a long time, Jessica Jones will finally appear on the small screen once again in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 6, titled "Requiem". To celebrate the occasion, the official Daredevil account has released a video showcasing the iconic hero walking into a church, with phrases from her original Netflix show playing in the background. Furthermore, Krysten Ritter commented on the post, "LFG!"
It's been years since we last saw Jessica on the small screen, and a lot of shocking events have transpired during this time. As such, Marvel has revealed what we can expect from the hero's arc during this season of Daredevil: Born Again, and why she joins the fight against the Kingpin of Crime in the first place. If you don't want any surprises ruined for you, it would be best to turn away now because we're about to dive into big spoiler territory.
Still here? Great, then let's answer the question: After so many years, why will Jessica jump into action once again? Well, for her family, of course.
A new Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 trailer revealed that Jessica Jones is now a mom, and that the Kingpin's Anti-Vigilante Task Force will break into her house while her daughter is present. As you could imagine, Fisk messed with the wrong person. This act will be more than enough to make the private investigator angry enough to join Matt's crusade against New York City's corrupt mayor.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 5 revealed that Wilson Fisk is desperately looking for both Bullseye and Daredevil. The villain is about to turn the city upside down by invading private property to find the men he holds responsible for the death of his wife, Vanessa Fisk. There will be no stone left unturned, which is likely why the AVTF will search Jessica Jones' house. After all, she has crossed paths with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen before, so who is to say she didn't offer him a place to hide? (We know she didn't, but Fisk doesn't).
The fact that Jessica is bound to make her MCU debut soon, and that she is a mom now, prompts the question of whether we'll see Luke Cage as well. After all, the two have a daughter in comic book pages named Danielle Cage, so it isn't far-fetched to assume we're about to see a similar scenario on the small screen. Besides, the Devil's Reign comic book storyline culminated with the Kingpin being overthrown as New York's mayor in favor of Luke Cage. And now that we know the Power Man will return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, there's a chance that he'll also be present in the final episodes of Season 2.
We're nearing the grand finale of this tale, which means things are only bound to get more explosive from here on out. Fortunately, it won't be long before Jessica Jones takes matters into her own hands.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
