The world of anime unleashed its most recent round of cursed energy as Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 officially returned to screens this week. The show had debuted its third season at the beginning of the year, but it ended up taking a break - rather unexpectedly to those who hadn't seen the season's release schedule - before kicking off the final chapter of this particular part of the JJK story.
See, Season 3 is all about The Culling Game Arc, with the 24 episodes designed to showcase it in all its glory. It's one of the most significant stories in the manga, so it therefore makes sense that it gets such focus here. And with the first half of this batch of episodes focusing on the Perfect Preparation Arc - setting up the tournament - the series has now officially entered the Culling Game. And the good news is that the next chapter will indeed further that arc next week.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 9 releases next week as show resumes its typical schedule
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 episode 9 will be released on Thursday, March 5, in the US and across the world (while airing in Japan on Friday, March 6). With JJK's return this week, it now officially resumes its typical release schedule, meaning that we can expect new episodes for the next month as it builds up to its halfway point.
As fans were so caught off-guard by the unexpected break last week, they weren't sure what to expect from the show's presence in the coming weeks. But, according to the original release schedule that was unveiled prior to the season's debut (and actually foretold of the Feb. 19 hiatus), the show will now run uninterrupted, releasing new episodes weekly on Thursdays until its twelfth installment. After that, the show is expected to take a longer hiatus, as it will build up to the release of its second cour.
As for what audiences can expect from the next installment, that's where things get even more exciting. Although Crunchyroll has yet to officially release the title, it is expected to feature the long-awaited showdown between Yuji Itadori and Hiromi Higuruma - a fight that the show has been building towards all season.
The recent episodes have seen Yuji and his bestie Megumi Fushiguro set out in search of Higuruma as they know that they need a player with a significant number of points - as part of the rules of the Culling Game. However, upon entering the Tokyo Colony via the barrier, they got separated - only for two misleading warriors to lead them on a wild goose chase in search of the sorcerer - in two different directions.
It all came to an interesting end for that particular part of the story when the show returned (we'll not spoil it here!) but that has set the stage for the remainder of The Culling Game Part 1 in a very unique way. If Yuji and Higuruma's battle is the next facet of this thrilling manga adaptation, then we're in for one heck of a ride. And now we know that it's just around the corner.
Still though, we have to ask: Is it next Thursday yet?!
