Kathryn Hahn set to make Marvel history ahead of Avengers: Doomsday

It sounds like it really was all about Agatha All Along. Reports say that Kathryn Hahn will be returning to screen as the beloved witch Agatha Harkness very, very soon.

Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga has been quite the journey for longtime fans of the franchise. While it certainly saw the once-invincible Marvel Cinematic Universe suffer more defeats than usual, it has always managed to bounce back from them, delivering some true gems across the past five years. That includes the critically-acclaimed WandaVision and its equally-adored spinoff Agatha All Along.

Both of those Disney Plus shows were high points for the MCU, with Kathryn Hahn's performance as ancient witch Agatha Harkness standing out in both of them. In fact, it was her Emmy-nominated performance in the former that ultimately led to her starring in her own spinoff. And now, two years later, Hahn could be about to make Marvel history by bringing the beloved witch to life one more time (or maybe even a few more too).

Kathryn Hahn expected for VisionQuest return, making her the only Marvel star to appear in all of the WandaVision Trilogy

Kathryn Hahn is now expected to reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in VisionQuest. According to reports from multiple insiders, she and fellow Agatha All Along co-star Joe Locke, are expected to appear in the final episode of the WandaVision spinoff, continuing the story of where their own series left off and potentially reuniting the majority of the Maximoff family in the process.

While we will get into why this is likely, we do first have to point out that this would make Hahn a Marvel history-maker, as she would be the only cast member to appear in all three installments of the WandaVision Trilogy. Yep, that's right; she played nosy-but-friendly neighbor Agnes - who turned out to be Agatha in disguise - in WandaVision, headlined her own adventure in Agatha All Along, and could make a significant appearance in the VisionQuest finale. And that really does highlight how Agatha has essentially become the connective tissue of the WandaVision Trilogy.

The original series, WandaVision, was headlined by Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany's Vision. Hahn appeared in a supporting role, starring in every single episode. Meanwhile, neither Olsen nor Bettany appeared in Agatha All Along, with only Debra Jo Rupp (Mrs. Hart / Sharon Davis) joining Hahn in the spinoff, along with a number of cameos from the Westview residents who did indeed appear in both. Now, Bettany returns to headline VisionQuest, meaning that he now ties Hahn and Rupp's two-show record. If Hahn appears in VisionQuest too, however, she officially breaks the record. The same goes for any potential returning Westview resident.

It is also important to note that, if Locke appears alongside her, it would mean that the character of Billy Maximoff would join Agatha as the two MCU characters to appear in all three installments, but as the adult version of the character has been played by Locke since Agatha All Along (Billy was played by multiple child actors in WandaVision), it would still mean that Hahn is the only actor to appear in all three.

One might even say that it really was Agatha All Along!

When we most recently saw Agatha and Billy in the season finale of Agatha All Along, a lot had gone down. It turns out that Billy - better known to Marvel Comics fans as Wiccan - had accidentally manifested the Witches' Road just as Wanda had accidentally manifested a sitcom-like life in Westview. Agatha ended up saving the Scarlet Witch's son from a run-in with Death, sacrificing herself in the process - but as she refused to let Death claim her, she became a ghost instead.

The pair set off to find Billy's brother Tommy Maximoff, who they managed to find a new body for after his soul spent years lost in the ether. It just so happens that Tommy will make his MCU return in VisionQuest, with Ruaridh Mollica taking on the role. And with Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, it's likely that a Maximoff family reunion might take place as Billy, Tommy, and Vision come together for the first time in years - potentially commencing a search for Wanda. And you know what, it was Agatha Harkness who helped make all of this history happen.

Maybe we should be calling it the Agatha Harkness Trilogy instead!

VisionQuest is set to arrive on Disney Plus on October 14, 2026.
