Sunday has finally arrived, which means it’s once again time for a new episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdomswell, kind of.

Sunday, February 8, is no ordinary day in the television calendar. It happens to be the date of the biggest television event of the year: Super Bowl LX. This Sunday, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks face off in the NFL’s championship game, airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The event will also feature a halftime show featuring one of the biggest artists in the world with Bad Bunny headlining the official Apple Music Halftime Show, and will treat fans to some unforgettable Super Bowl commercials and movie trailers

The Super Bowl is expected to be watched by over 100 million viewers once again this year, dominating the Sunday schedule and leading networks such as HBO to make some modifications to their normal programming slate this Sunday.

In hopes of avoiding direct competition with Super Bowl LX, HBO debuted the newest episodes of both A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Industry two days early this week. Rather than dropping the new episodes on HBO Max on Sunday at the same time as their linear debuts on HBO, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1, episode 4, and Industry season 4, episode 5, each released on HBO Max at 3:01 a.m. ET on Friday, February 6. This has given fans the chance to watch both hit series via HBO Max ahead of schedule, but this has also created some confusion among fans regarding the release schedule.

Technically speaking, there is a “new” episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms airing tonight on HBO at 10 p.m. ET with the release of episode 4. For those who do not have HBO Max and watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms directly through HBO via their cable providers, the February 8 broadcast of episode 4 on the channel will be the episode’s HBO debut. This is why, if you look at TV listings for the night on your cable provider or sites such as TV Guide, you will see a listing for a new episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The thing is that by the time the episode debuts for the first time on HBO’s linear channel, most fans will have likely already watched the episode through their HBO Max accounts. This is where the confusion is likely to come in among viewers, as this week’s episode effectively had two unique release dates: its release on HBO Max on Friday, February 6, and its release on HBO on Sunday, February 8.

When does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 episode 5 come out?

Okay, so what is the plan for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1, episode 5? After a chaotic release strategy for episode 4 due to HBO looking to get the episode out via streaming ahead of the Super Bowl, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms returns to its normal release cadence with episode 5.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1, episode 5, will debut on both HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, February 15, at 10 p.m. ET. This means that regardless of whether you’re watching the show via the linear HBO channel or via streaming on HBO Max, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 will release at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday night once again—and that’s for the best given what is about to unfold in the episode.

Without giving too much away, let’s just say that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1, episode 5 has the potential to be the show’s biggest and most intense episode yet!

This is because the episode will see the trial of seven play out with Dunk and his six knights facing off against Prince Aerion and his group of six knights. It’s basically a trial by combat in which two groups of seven face off on the field to determine the guilt or innocence of the accused party—which, in this instance, is Dunk. The trial will only end when one party is defeated or yields, setting up for what is sure to be a brutal showdown fans aren’t going to want to miss!
