Major unexpected Marvel hero "set to appear" in Avengers: Doomsday

While a lot of Marvel characters will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, there's one we all assumed wouldn't show up. However, a new report indicates otherwise.

Marvel recently stole the spotlight for five hours straight during a lengthy livestream in which a part of Avengers: Doomsday's cast was announced. Multiple beloved characters both from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the X-Men Fox saga are bound to make an explosive comeback on the big screen, and fans couldn't be any more excited to see them again. However, even if there are many names already on the list, more are still to come.

During CinemaCon 2025, Kevin Feige confirmed that the full cast of Avengers: Doomsday still remains under wraps. With that in mind, many hoped that heroes such as Spider-Man, Wanda Maximoff, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and more could show up even if they weren't a part of the initial cast announcement. However, there's one specific character that no one quite expects to see in Marvel's next big crossover. Not because he isn't beloved, as we all are eager to see more of him.

In fact, there have been multiple rumors indicating that he wouldn't show up until after Avengers: Secret Wars (which would make sense considering his current storyline). Fortunately, it seems we won't have to wait that long for his comeback if a new report is to be believed.

Moon Knight will reportedly appear in Avengers: Doomsday

According to renowned insider Divinity Seeker, Oscar Isaac will reprise his role as Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday. In fact, he's set to film his scenes "very soon". This comes as a huge relief after it was previously reported that the Fist of Khonshu would be skipping the rest of the Multiverse Saga altogether and wouldn't appear until after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars (potentially in a Midnight Sons movie). Besides, his character hasn't necessarily been pulled into the bigger MCU, even if he lives in it. But even if all signs indicated fans wouldn't see him next year, there's a chance that isn't the case.

Interestingly enough, Oscar Isaac was set to attend the Star Wars Celebration Japan event in April. However, he won't be able to go anymore due to "changes in his production schedule". And wouldn't you know it, but Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin filming in April in the U.K. Maybe there's a chance he really wasn't intended to be a part of the highly anticipated crossover at some point in pre-production, but that could've changed since.

Now, I know what you're thinking: How is Marvel planning on tying him to the bigger multiversal narrative? Well, if reports are to be believed, Avengers: Doomsday could be all about the creation of Battleworld — a single place made from multiple universes, all mashed into one. This would be Doom's solution to all the impending incursions that risk destroying the multiverse in its entirety. If a whole new world is created and all MCU characters are pulled into it, then it would be everyone's concern. Every single hero would be aware of this new status quo and attempt to undo it or, at least, understand it. That also includes Moon Knight.

Even if some fans weren't convinced by the creative choices taken in the Moon Knight Disney Plus series, there's no denying that Oscar Isaac played the character to perfection. He's such a versatile actor who can definitely sell you on the idea that there are multiple personalities living within Marc Spector. So his return to the MCU would definitely be welcomed by fans. Besides, his character can only grow from here onwards.

It's unlikely that Marvel will reveal the complete Avengers: Doomsday cast before the movie premieres. Some big surprises are bound to be saved until the day the movie hits theaters. So there's a high chance that we won't learn if Moon Knight will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes or not until 2026 (unless a set photo gives the surprise away). But let's hope that we won't have to wait more than two years to see the iconic hero once again. There must be a reason why Marvel introduced him back in 2022, and hopefully, it all pays off sooner rather than later.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on May 1, 2026.
