The finale of Daredevil: Born Again was more than a fantastic episode of Television on its own, as it also set up the stage for bigger things to come in the future. Now that Kingpin has officially taken over the Marvel Cinematic Universe by becoming the ruthless Mayor of New York, Matt Murdock will need all the help he can get to save the city. He even bowed to create an "army" of heroes to take his arch-nemesis down, which sparked speculation about who exactly he would recruit.
Fans have spent weeks theorizing that Spider-Man could be amongst Matt Murdock's team, all thanks to a secret easter egg hidden in the final episode. Furthermore, many guessed that The Defenders could be ideal candidates as well, given that Daredevil had already worked with them in the past. But amidst all the speculation, Marvel decided to do the unthinkable and officially confirm the comeback of a beloved superhero in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
It's time to put our seatbelts on, as things are about to get messy in all the best ways possible.

Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2
Charlie Cox took over the stage during Disney's Upfront presentation on May 13 to talk about Matt Murdock's upcoming adventure. However, he wasn't alone, as another Defenders star also stole the spotlight to announce her official comeback. That's right: Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones, and she'll join the MCU during the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. However, it might not be the last we may see of the private detective, as revealed by Krysten herself:
"It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"
Krysten Ritter first portrayed the role of Jessica Jones during her own Netflix stand-alone series back in 2015. Unfortunately, her story abruptly came to an end once the Netflix and Disney deal expired, and all of the Defenders' shows were cancelled. However, fans were hopeful these beloved street-level heroes could eventually make an MCU comeback the day Matt Murdock joined the MCU during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. So now that we know Jessica is officially back, could that mean Luke Cage and Iron Fist will join her soon?
Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, mentioned that the characters set to appear in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 need to have a narrative reason to be there as opposed to being there simply for the shock factor:
"It’s about not rushing and telling the best story. Yes, it’s exciting to think about characters interacting, but it’s about the reasons why. At times we’ve done that very well, at times we’ve rushed. The story has to lead the path."
While neither a confirmation nor a denial about the appearances of other Defenders, it's clear that more than two people are needed to create an "army". Chances are that Daredevil and Jessica Jones will be helped by other heroes as well, and the latter's return strongly indicates that Luke and Danny will finally make their MCU debut too. 2026 can't come here soon enough for us to discover just who's set join in the battle against the Kingpin of crime.
Brad Winderbaum also doubled down on the idea that Marvel wants to release new seasons of Daredevil: Born Again every year, especially after the success of the first season:
"It’s given us the confidence of making the show annually into the future"
With that in mind, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that Jessica Jones could show up in subsequent seasons of Daredevil: Born Again, which would explain Krysten's comments on "there being much more in store" for Jessica Jones. Naturally, we'd all love for her to be the star of her own stand-alone show, or even of a Disney+ Special Presentation, much like The Punisher. That being said, 2026 will mark the first time that audiences will see her character on the small screen after a seven-year hiatus. So, for the time being, the confirmation that she'll be back is more than enough to make us excited about the character's future.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will be released in 2026.
