Warning: This article could contain potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.
The Avengers movies are always surrounded by a lot of anticipation prior to their release. The small tidbits of information Marvel gives us about these upcoming crossovers are just as exciting as the countless plot details kept under wraps. Speculation runs rampant, and fans theorize who could make a surprise appearance when least expected. This has held especially true for the studio's next big release, Avengers: Doomsday.
The Multiverse Saga has opened up the doors to unlimited possibilities. Characters we thought were long gone, such as Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man or the X-Men from the 20th Century Fox era, suddenly jumped back into action. Furthermore, we've seen variants of Mr. Fantastic, Loki, and plenty more step into the spotlight over the years. Since the rulebook has been thrown out the window, Avengers: Doomsday could shock us with plenty of surprises, and it seems one of them has made its way online earlier than anticipated.
Presumed leaked set photo of Avengers: Doomsday gives us our first look at the Scarlet Witch
A new picture potentially taken from the Avengers: Doomsday set has recently been making waves online for one particular reason: it doesn't appear to be made with AI. Granted, we should still take it with a grain of salt, but if it were real, it would give us our first look at Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch in the upcoming MCU crossover.

Interestingly, Wanda Maximoff isn't sporting her usual red outfit, but the green attire worn by the "Latverian Witch"—a new character revealed by Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con who has been the subject of leaked promotional pictures. However, there are a few interesting things to take into consideration.
For starters, the belt design in the leaked Scarlet Witch picture matches the one on display at SDCC, although both are different from the one showcased in the promo images. Furthermore, the fabric in the SDCC costume has an inlaid pattern that isn't visible on the leaked Avengers: Doomsday image. Maybe it's just due to the poor quality of the photo that we aren't able to see such a small detail, but it could also be an indication that this whole "leak" has simply been manufactured.
In any case, multiple signs indicate that the Scarlet Witch will indeed play a role in Avengers: Doomsday. For starters, Elizabeth Olsen's stunt double, Jennifer White, posted pictures of herself filming scenes as the Scarlet Witch in previous MCU movies before confirming she was filming something, but refusing to elaborate on what exactly it was. Incidentally, Avengers: Doomsday has been undergoing reshoots to add more cameos, so not only could these two events be connected, but it has been reported that Jennifer White was on the set of the upcoming Marvel crossover.
Reliable insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) also claimed back in April 2026 that the Scarlet Witch would appear in Avengers: Doomsday, wearing a metallic Doctor Doom mask and acting as one of the villain's followers. Not too long after, Marvel revealed the appearance of the mysterious Latverian Witches.
Last but certainly not least, fans have wondered how exactly Doom will create Battleworld if the Beyonders don't exist in the MCU. After all, it's thanks to the power of these cosmic beings that the ruler of Latveria bends reality in the comic book world, so it's clear that some creative liberties will need to be taken on the big screen. Currently, the only other being powerful enough to shape the world around her is the Scarlet Witch, as evidenced by the events of WandaVision.
While all evidence suggests Wanda Maximoff will return to the big screen once again in December, we don't know exactly how she will do it. After all, the last time we saw her was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she seemingly died after being crushed under rubble. So how exactly did she manage to survive? Could the version of Wanda we're about to see be from a parallel universe? Only time will tell, but on the bright side, we won't have to wait long to get some much-needed answers.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
