When Avengers: Endgame premiered, audiences witnessed the passing of legendary icons such as Iron Man and Black Widow as well as the retirement of Steve Rogers. With such a big void in our hearts, it was the perfect time for new heroes to step up and steal the spotlight moving forward. To accomplish that goal, The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been introducing no shortage of big characters since the start of Phase 4 on both the big and small screen. Unfortunately, none of these new faces have really enjoyed any form of consistency when it comes to being featured in multiple projects over short periods of time. The reality is that most of them have acted as a "one-and-done" so far.
Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, She-Hulk, Shang-Chi, the Eternals, and more heroes made an explosive debut only to never be seen again. But perhaps the worst part is that we have no idea when they'll be featured next (if they ever get the chance to do so in the first place). Will Marvel follow up on Mighty Thor's story? Can Werewolf eventually be a part of the Midnight Sons? And what happened to fan-favorite Ms. Marvel?
Sure, Kamala Khan was fortunate enough to have her own stand-alone series and make a follow-up appearance just one year later during The Marvels. That being said, Ms. Marvel hasn't been renewed for a second season almost three years after its original release, and Captain Marvel 3 has been reportedly scrapped at Marvel. With that in mind, audiences wondered if they would ever see the super-powered teenager again after such a streak of "cancelled" projects, and it looks like we might finally have an answer.

Ms. Marvel will reportedly return in Avengers: Doomsady
A new scoop by reliable insider Alex Perez, via The Cosmic Circus, revealed that Kamala Khan will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their crusade to save the multiverse during Avengers: Doomsday. While it would've been a true shocker if Marvel's biggest fan missed out on the next big crossover, it's still nice to get a "confirmation" that we'll see more of her after joining forces with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau.
March 2025 kicked things off on a very shocking note with the leak of concept art for Avengers: Doomsday. One of the illustrations depicts Ms. Marvel sitting on a table with The Young Avengers, as Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Wiccan, and Speed are all also there. So it seems her mission to recruit a new group of heroes — which was teased during the post-credits scene of The Marvels — ultimately paid off. Of course, it's worth pointing out that, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that the concept art didn't spoil any surprises because it "wasn't theirs". However, given how it was almost instantly taken out and was being copy-striked across the internet, we can't help but feel these statements are nothing but damage control.
But whether the leak turns out to be real or not, it's clear audiences will have to see some sort of pay-off to that post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel assembling a team of her own. Besides, we can't help but feel like her Quantum Bands will have a role to play when the multiverse collapses. After all, these Kree artifacts were used to connect the universe as a whole by creating the wormholes through which ships jump. However, we've also seen they are capable of tearing down multiversal barriers — an event that left Monica Rambeau stranded in a parallel reality.
It wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume Kamala will attempt to use her Quantum Bands once again to rescue her missing friend. And if she goes down this path, then chances are she'll come across Doctor Doom. Perhaps the Ruler of Latveria will attempt to steal the Kree technology and use it to connect every branching reality and form Battleworld to prevent the multiverse's collapse. There must be a reason why Ms. Marvel's powers were radically changed in the MCU compared to her comic book counterpart, and it might be to directly tie into the narrative of Avengers: Doomsday.
Whatever Ms. Marvel's role ends up being in Marvel's upcoming crossover, it can't be denied her comeback is overdue. Her enthusiasm and comic relief can inject a much-needed positivism into what is shaping up to be one of the most dire superhero movies ever made. Besides, we can't wait to see how she fangirls when meeting other iconic heroes such as Peter Quill or Spider-Man (we all know we'd act just like her if we were in her shoes). So fingers crossed she steals the spotlight and her participation ends up being more than a simple cameo.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on May 1, 2026.
