Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be promoted as a solo Spider-Man film, but it is quietly setting up to be one of the biggest street-level crossovers ever made in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The whole world may have forgotten Peter Parker ever existed, but the wall-crawler is going to become more popular than ever before.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is confirmed to feature the appearance of two iconic anti-heroes: Hulk and the Punisher. As if that wasn't enough, it has been heavily rumored that Sadie Sink's character in the movie will be none other than Jean Grey, opening the door for a new generation of X-Men to step onto the big screen. Furthermore, it has now been revealed that yet another fan-favorite character will jump into action later this July.
Kevin Feige confirms that Yelena Belova will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
During the Bilibili World 2026 convention in Shanghai, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige made a surprise appearance and revealed a lot of interesting MCU tidbits. He confirmed that the upcoming X-Men movie, set to be directed by Jake Schreier, will be released after Avengers: Secret Wars. Furthermore, Feige also unveiled new Avengers: Doomsday concept art, which not only gives us our best look at Doctor Doom but also showcases the many groups of heroes set to appear in the anticipated crossover.
To top things off, Kevin Feige shocked fans by confirming that we won't have to wait until the release of Avengers: Doomsday to see Yelena Belova on the big screen, because she will appear sooner in another project:
"If you are a fan of Yelena, wait until Avengers: Doomsday. Yelena plays a big part in that, but if you don't want to wait until then, you might see Yelena a little bit sooner in the movies."
There's only one MCU movie set to be released between now and Avengers: Doomsday, and that is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Furthermore, multiple reports have previously indicated that Yelena would be part of the film, doubling down on the idea that we'll see the iconic spy in the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure. So, the only question remaining is: How will she fit into the story?

Insider James Mack revealed that Yelena will appear twice during Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The first time, she will look out of her apartment only to see Peter Parker naked outside her window. This could tie into the sequence showcased in the trailers where Peter suddenly wakes up from a web cocoon without wearing any clothes. Furthermore, it has also been reported that Brand New Day needed an intimacy coordinator for filming, likely being involved in the creation of this scene.
The second time audiences will reportedly see Yelena in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be in a sequence related to the Hulk. Given that Yelena is the leader of the New Avengers, she's bound to know if there's a giant, green monster destroying the city. Perhaps she could aid the wall-crawler and the Punisher to stop the Green Goliath, and even try to recruit either Frank Castle or Bruce Banner to the New Avengers team, seeing as it is made up of a group of misfits with a dark past.
By the sounds of it, Yelena's participation in Brand New Day will be more of a small cameo. However, she is the only character who could bridge the events of the film to Avengers: Doomsday, as it has been reported that Tom Holland's Peter Parker won't join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their upcoming adventure. But regardless of the specifics behind her participation, it appears that Marvel wants to position her character as one of the main faces of the MCU moving forward. After all, not only will she aid the wall-crawler in a few weeks, but she is rumored to be one of the heroes with the largest participation in Avengers: Doomsday.
Insiders have revealed that Marvel intends to make a big, street-level crossover film with the likes of Spider-Man, Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and more. If that were to be the case, Yelena could be a perfect member of the ensemble, so perhaps Marvel will start to lay the seeds for such a storyline in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fortunately, it isn't long before we find out how the leader of the New Avengers will fit into the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
