The Devil of Hell's Kitchen is no stranger to making history on the screen. He was the first superhero to have a Netflix series of his own back in 2015, and now he's the star of the first live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe show to ever be renewed for a third season on Disney Plus. There's no stopping Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk's rivalry, and the best part is that we won't have to wait long before we discover where their story goes.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 was confirmed to be released in March 2026—exactly one year after the season 1 premiere. So, with the recent news that a third season is coming our way, fans wondered if history would repeat itself and an annual release would be on the cards yet again. Fortunately, that's exactly the case.
Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be released in March 2027; yearly releases planned
March is officially the devil's month. During an interview with Agents of Fandom, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, discussed the importance of not only releasing the best projects possible on the small screen, but also the ones that can be renewed for multiple seasons. While doing so, he revealed that new seasons of Daredevil: Born Again will come out every March: "Daredevil: Born Again is an annual release, every March, for as long as people enjoy the show".

Brad Winderbaum also highlighted Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and X-Men '97 as other series that will be renewed for multiple seasons and have a new batch of episodes released every year. With this, Marvel is trying to "embrace a traditional development cycle" that will allow them to have a bigger output of releases across a smaller number of projects, which is the complete opposite of what happened in previous years.
There have been many live-action Marvel Disney Plus shows over the years, such as Hawkeye, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Ms. Marvel, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Moon Knight, to name a few. But Loki and Daredevil: Born Again aside, none of them have come back for a second season. While the stories of characters like Kamala Khan and Sam Wilson's Captain America have been continued on the big screen, Marc Spector, Jennifer Walters, and Kate Bishop haven't enjoyed the same treatment yet (though the latter was briefly featured in The Marvels ending sequence).
Marvel's new strategy moving forward would ensure that heroes introduced on the small screen won't simply disappear from the public eye after just one season. Instead, they will come back every year to surprise audiences with new adventures. While that comes at the cost of not many characters debuting on the small screen, it's definitely the right move for the MCU.

As for Daredevil, it was recently confirmed that Jessica Jones will officially come back for season 2 of Born Again. But now that we know annual releases are definitely on the cards, Marvel could be looking to build up a Defenders reunion.
Luke Cage actor Mike Colter recently teased that his return could be a possibility. With that in mind, Marvel could take its time to make a proper adaptation of the Devil's Reign comic book storyline and set the pieces for an eventual Avengers-like team-up of street-level heroes further down the line. The best part? We don't have to wait long before we find out what the master plan is.
