One of the stars of Stranger Things may be heading into a new, hugely popular franchise next. Stranger Things has just come to an end, with fans saying goodbye to the beloved characters. While we are sure to see many of the show's stars in other projects, one standout cast member may have a very big new role on the horizon.

Daniel Richtman has reported that Joe Keery is being eyed for an undisclosed role in the MCU. Keery, of course, played Steve Harrington for all five seasons of Stranger Things, becoming one of the most popular characters in the series. Richtman does not name the upcoming MCU project Keery is being eyed for, but it is not hard to see why he would be sought after.

Outside of Stranger Things, Keery has also starred in the thriller Spree and the Ryan Reynolds action-comedy Free Guy. On television, he also earned acclaim for his performance as Gator Tillman in season 5 of Fargo. Keery would join other Stranger Things cast members who have already been cast in the MCU, including David Harbour as Red Guardian and Sadie Sink, who will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Who could Joe Keery be playing in the MCU?

Without knowing what role Joe Keery might be up for in the MCU, fans have surely started their own fan-casting at this point. Indeed, the actor is well-suited to a lot of exciting roles that may be on the horizon. This is especially true when it comes to the X-Men joining the MCU.

Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and several of the other original actors from the Fox X-Men movies will be reprising their roles in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios is also developing its own X-Men movie and will need new actors to take over these iconic roles. Keery is easy to imagine in many of these roles.

Keery would make an excellent Cyclops, bringing a more likable personality to the leader of the X-Men than has been seen in some of the previous iterations. He would also fit nicely into the likes of Angel and Iceman. Even fan-favorite mutant Gambit would not be a stretch for Keery to pull off.

Outside the X-Men, Richard Rider, aka Nova, would be a great fit for Keery. It could bring back some of the intergalactic fun that has been absent from the MCU since the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. However, one of the most exciting options is seeing Keery as Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider, bringing a heroic rebel quality to the character fans have been wanting to see join the MCU for some time.
