Here's when you can expect the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer to come out

Marvel Studios is about to break the internet with the brand new Avengers: Doomsday trailer. Better yet, that day is almost upon all of us MCU fans.

It goes without saying that Avengers: Doomsday is going to be one of the biggest movies of the year. Heck, if the stars align it could end up being one of the biggest movies of the decade. And yes, despite some of Marvel Studios' recent shortcomings in the Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still capable of drawing massive crowds with the right project. There's a pretty high chance that this could be that project.

There's a lot of anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday and you needn't look any further than the outcry and demand for the film's first full-length teaser trailer - something that Marvel fans have been craving for months. The studio's decision to holdout on granting that request has been controversial (especially considering that they did screen it for certain audiences at particular events) but it will make the eventual release of it that much more fulfilling.

Speaking of which...

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is now officially expected at San Diego Comic-Con

The new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is expected to premiere on Saturday, July 25, as part of Marvel Studios' heavily-anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The film's directors, the Russo Brothers, will be in attendance alongside Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige as the MCU makes its long-awaited return to Hall H after skipping the event last year.

The Wrap had previously reported that the juggernaut studio would return to Hall H this year and Marvel made things official this past week, with an announcement that confirmed a major MCU-centric panel in their typical Saturday evening slot. That panel wilol feature a look ahead at the franchise's upcoming titles, and you can rest assured that Avengers: Doomsday will be getting top billing.

In previous years, Feige would always tease a number of upcoing projects, bringing out the cast and crew of those projects to tease fans with what they can expect from them. A trailer or two for a more imminent title would often be a part of those panels too. And with Avengers: Doomsday now officially on the horizon, it's safe to say that the trailer for that one will be the main event of this year's panel.

It's the Endgame, if you will, that fans have been waiting for. Ever since Marvel Studios surprised CinemaCon audiences with a special teaser trailer in April, fans across the globe have been calling for it to be released online. It never was as this particular teaser was designed to give those in attendance at CinemaCon an idea of what they can expect from the MCU in the near-future. But Comic-Con is always a completely different ball game. When a studio unveils an exclusive trailer to audiences there, it almost always surfaces online shortly afterwards.

With just five months until Avengers: Doomsday's theatrical release, the first trailer would have been imminent anyway. There will be no greater stage to launch it than San Diego Comic-Con; with a huge audience eagerly primed and ready for it around the world, releasing it online to complement the teases that will come from Feige, the Russos, and the stars of the movie (likely led by Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans) would be the perfect way to officially kick off the film's promotional window.

None of those names are strangers to the SDCC stage. Downey, the Russos, and Feige broke the internet two years ago when they took to that very stage to reveal that the uncertain Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would officially become Avengers: Doomsday - successfully reinvigorating interest in the fifth Avengers movie and ensuring that the Multiverse Saga would be building towards a more larger-than-life endgame. Now is the time to give us an idea of what that endgame looks like.

While much of the plot of Avengers: Doomsday remains a mystery, it's expected to be centred on Robert Downey Jr.'s return as new villain Doctor Doom. With multiversal incursions threatening to destroy the Multiverse Saga itself, it will be up to Sam Wilson's Avengers, Yelena Belova's New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and even the X-Men to save the day and stop Doom. They can also rely on help from veteran Avengers Thor and Steve Rogers, both of whom are expected to play a major role in the upcoming movie.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
