Superheroes are no strangers to stealing the spotlight in the TV awards season. Back in 2021, WandaVision received a staggering 23 Emmy nominations, breaking the record for any Marvel live-action series ever produced. Since then, other iconic projects like Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Loki have all seen their fair share of critical success, resulting in multiple Emmy nominations along the way. Fortunately, 2026 hasn't been any different for the superhero genre.
The Emmy nominations have been revealed, and there's a lot to break down. While The Boys was one of the biggest TV series missing completely from the list, other shows like Wonder Man, Peacemaker, Gen V, and Invincible are all contenders for awards. However, there's one superhero project in particular that made headlines for securing an astonishing 11 Emmy nominations.
It seems the wall-crawler has swung higher than ever courtesy of its latest detective mystery show.
With 11 Emmy nominations, Spider-Noir is now the second most-nominated Marvel show
When Spider-Noir was first released, it was praised for many different things. Nicolas Cage absolutely nailed the role of a seasoned (and a bit goofy) private investigator who doesn't want to be a hero anymore. Furthermore, fans couldn't help but fall in love with the show's score, its cinematography, visual effects, costumes, and much more.
Amazon's Prime Vidoe and Sony took a risk by producing a more mature Spider-Man series revolving around an obscure version of the hero who wasn't even Peter Parker under the mask (although a few hidden clues might suggest otherwise). Fortunately, it seems this risk paid off, as Spider-Noir secured 11 Emmy nominations in the following categories:
- Outstanding Title Design
- Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics
- Outstanding Cinematography For a Series (One Hour)
- Outstanding Production Design For a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More)
- Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup
- Outstanding Music Composition For a Series (Original Dramatic Score)
- Outstanding Sound Editing For a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)
- Outstanding Sound Mixing For a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)
- Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode
- Outstanding Stunt Coordination For Comedy Programming
- Outstanding Stunt Performance
Spider-Noir has officially become the Marvel show with the second-most Emmy nominations ever, behind Marvel Studios' critically-acclaimed WandaVision. To put into perspective how impressive this feat is, here are the top ten shows based on a Marvel character with the most Emmy nominations:
- WandaVision - 23 nominations
- Spider-Noir - 11 nominations
- Loki - 9 nominations (across two seasons)
- Moon Knight - 8 nominations
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - 5 nominations
- What If...? - 5 nominations (across 3 seasons)
- Netflix's Daredevil - 5 nominations (across 3 seasons)
- Ms. Marvel - 4 nominations
- Agatha All Along - 3 nominations
- Hawkeye - 2 nominations
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 2 nominations
While Disney and Marvel Studios have produced the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are the studios responsible for Spider-Noir. Sony itself has spent years trying to find success by producing live-action projects starring Spider-Man characters who aren't Peter Parker, to varying (if mostly negative) degrees of success. While the Venom movie trilogy was a commercial success, critics weren't too fond of it. Furthermore, projects like Madame Web, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter were considered failures.
Spider-Noir's success proves that a version of the wall-crawler is needed to go against iconic villains like Tombstone, Silvermane, or Sandman. So, while Peter Parker swings around the neighborhood in the MCU, other Spidey variants could very well star in Sony's spin-off projects.
Characters like Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider, Miguel O'Hara, or Cindy Moon have yet to make their live-action debuts, so it would be a missed opportunity if Sony didn't use any of them for another TV series or film. On the bright side, Spider-Noir showrunner Oren Uziel confirmed that there are multiple projects starring Spider-Man variants in the works.
Outside of the live-action adaptations, we know that three animated films starring Spider-Punk, Venom, and multiple Spider-Women will come our way. So it seems Sony is (finally) keen on making projects that include at least one version of the web-slinger, which has proven to be a recipe for success in the past.
Spider-Noir's nominations could also encourage Amazon and Sony to greenlight a second season. After all, Cat Hardy actress Li Jun Li confirmed that a lot of cast members have contract obligations for a second season. Coupled with the amazing ratings, it's hard to see why we wouldn't get to see more of Ben Reilly on the small screen.
