2026 is bound to be a very exciting year for fans of the masked menace himself, Spider-Man.
The beloved Marvel hero will return to the big screen after a five-year hiatus courtesy of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Furthermore, a second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is coming our way later this year, while Spider-Noir's premiere is just around the corner. And while it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, rumor has it that Tobey Maguire's version of the wall-crawler will have a major role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Spidey's future is bright, even past 2026. Spider-Verse: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Marvel's Spider-Man 3 are confirmed to be coming our way further down the line. However, in an unexpected twist of events, the list of projects to look forward to just got significantly larger. Brace yourselves, because many Spider-Man variants are bound to take over the spotlight soon.
Spider-Noir showrunner confirms multiple projects starring Spider-Man variants are in the works
During an interview for SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar), Spider-Noir showrunner Oren Uziel revealed that Sony is working on other projects starring Spider-Man variants. They will all be structured similarly to Spider-Noir, as they are set to take on a specific genre that fits their protagonist:
"I'm focused on Spider-Noir, but I know there are others in the works. I've talked a bit to the people working on them, and I think they are very exciting. They're following a little bit of that same formula, that same idea of taking a genre and elevating it by putting a Spider-variant into it. It opens up a whole new world, and it's just an extremely exciting opportunity."

We know of two animated movies coming our way, set to feature iconic Spider-Man characters. The first one is a Spider-Punk film, co-written by Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh. Hobie Brown was first introduced during the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and instantly became a fan-favorite. As such, it doesn't come as a surprise that he'll have the spotlight to himself after Miles' trilogy comes to an end.
The other project confirmed to be in the works is an animated Venom movie helmed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors behind Final Destination: Bloodlines. While not much is known about the Lethal Protector's upcoming adventure, Tom Hardy is believed to play a role in it, and his participation could range from being a producer all the way to voicing Eddie Brock.
Renowned insider Daniel Richtman was the first to report on the story of a Venom movie coming our way, while simultaneously revealing that an animated Spider-Women movie is also in the works. That means it is all but confirmed that we'll watch a crossover featuring no shortage of iconic characters on the big screen, which could include the likes of Spider-Gwen, Jessica Drew, or even Cindy Moon.

Speaking of Cindy, a live-action Silk: Spider Society series was in the works at Amazon and set to be released on MGM+ and Prime Video. Unfortunately, the project was officially shelved back in 2024, but it wouldn't be surprising to learn that Sony is interested in revisiting that idea. After all, if Spider-Noir proves to be a big success, then chances are that we'll see more live-action projects featuring Spider-Man variants in the future, with Cindy Moon being a likely candidate.
When it comes to popular Spider-People across the multiverse, few are as beloved as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. Shockingly, the former has yet to appear in any live-action project to date, even though fans have been asking to see him take over the big screen for years now. Maybe there's a chance that Sony develops solo projects with the two iconic heroes as protagonists, though it remains unclear whether they have a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead (but perhaps Avengers: Secret Wars can give us a clear answer).
Spider-Noir's success will be instrumental to the development of more projects featuring iconic Spider-Man variants. Fortunately, it won't be long before we see how it all pans out and whether Sony has a success on its hands.
All eight episodes of Spider-Noir will be released on May 27 on Prime Video.
