It's an exciting time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Obviously we have these massive universe-changing Avengers movies on the horizon, with both set to change the face of the franchise forever, all while closing out the Multiverse Saga. But that's not all, we have the highly-anticipated next phase of the MCU to look forward to as well, with the X-Men and Ghost Rider set to both make their debuts, along with the arrival of a new Black Panther.
On the TV side of things, we also have the final season of Daredevil: Born Again coming out next year, the brand new Disney Plus show Zodiac the year after that. But before all of that, we have the long-awaited sequel to two of Marvel Studios' greatest ever accomplishments, setting the stage for one of the MCU's best trilogies to be born. And an accidental return confirmation in the newest trailer may have made that inevitable.
Marvel fans spot Billy Maximoff return in new VisionQuest trailer
Marvel Studios has released a brand new trailer for VisionQuest ahead of the show's premiere on Disney Plus next week. Once again, it teases audiences with what to expect from Paul Bettany's return as Vision, James Spader's return as Ultron, and the odd, eerily beautiful story that will come from all of that. However, this one features a hidden cameo - one that fans were quick to spot.
The trailer features a sequence of Vision seemingly having his mind, feelings, and / or memories restored by what appears to be both of his sons. We know that Ruaridh Mollica is officially joining the MCU in the series as Tommy Maximoff (a.k.a. Speed) - the son of Vision and Wanda Maximoff (a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch). What we didn't know - at least from an official standpoint - is that Joe Locke would be reprising his role as Tommy's twin brother, Billy Maximoff (a.k.a. Wiccan) in the series.
You can see the clip below:

The clip features Vision being pinned down by two hands - each one brandishing a different form of power / magic. One is glowing a robotic orange / yellow, giving us a new glimpse of Tommy's Speed abilities. The other hand, however, is instantly recognizable; we'd know that blue magic and nail polish anywhere! Yes, Wiccan is back!
Truthfully, a lot of people had a sneaking suspicion that Billy would appear in VisionQuest but Marvel had never officially confirmed it before. The reason for that suspicion was down to the fact that Locke first portrayed the role in Agatha All Along - the first sequel to WandaVision and predecessor to VisionQuest - when he and Agatha Harkness successfully found Tommy's soul and placed it into another body. That body will be revealed to be none other than Tommy Shepard, who debuts in VisionQuest.
The end of Agatha All Along saw Billy and Agatha set out to find Tommy, so it's not too surprising to learn that the former will appear in the upcoming sequel series. Hahn is also reported to appear as Agatha once again but that hasn't been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios as of yet. If she does, she would be the only actor to star in all three installments of the WandaVision Trilogy.

WandaVision starred Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the pair reprised their MCU roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision. Out of grief over the real Vision's death, Wanda used her limitless chaos magic to create a fictional version of him, taking over the town of Westview to make it happen. She and Vision had two sons - Tommy and Billy - before interference from both Agatha Harkness and SWORD (using the real, resurrected White Vision) forced her to bring the Hex down. She then turned to dark magic in an attempt to resurrect her fictional sons (which led to her apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) but, unbeknownst to her, both sons ultimately survived.
Billy's magic allowed his soul to hop into the body of the recently-deceased William Kaplan before a run-in with Agatha and a trip down an accidentally-conjured Witches' Road gave him the opportunity to locate his brother Tommy's soul and place it into a body too. Now, Tommy and Billy will seemingly have their long-awaited reunion in VisionQuest - the final chapter in the WandaVision Trilogy.
Vision has his memories but none of the emotions that were attached to them, so he spends most of his time inside his own head with Ultron and the MCU's other AIs. However, it seems that his sons will ultimately save him, restoring his emotions by seemingly recreating the effect of the Mind Stone (you'll notice in the above clip that the blue marking on White Vision's head is beginning to turn yellow once again, just like the Mind Stone that once resided there).
It's certainly surprising that Marvel Studios spoiled such a major return in the trailer when they had held back on doing so leading up to this moment. Remember, VisionQuest might be premiering this week, but there are still quite a few weeks until it concludes. Either way, we are ready for the Maximoff twins to reunite... setting the stage for the ultimate Maximoff family reunion. Now, if only Marvel Studios would officially confirm Wanda's fate so we can complete that reunion once and for all.
VisionQuest arrives on Disney Plus on Ocober 14, 2026.
