There's no denying that Avengers: Secret Wars will be not only the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date, but also one of the most ambitious superhero projects as a whole. Heroes that made their live-action debut years ago will come back for the adventure of a lifetime, and fan-favorites who we thought were long gone could make an appearance, too, thanks to the multiverse. Anyone could show up when we least expect it... with some exceptions, that is.
Even if Avengers: Secret Wars had a runtime of three hours, it would be impossible for it to fit every single live-action Marvel hero ever. Unfortunately, that means fan-favorite characters won't be present when the Multiverse as a whole collapses, and a beloved Marvel actor has revealed that he's among them.
Oscar Isaac denies a Moon Knight appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars
During Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein premiere, TikTok user Madeos Kilimli asked Oscar Isaac if he would appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, to which the actor responded with a conclusive: "It's a secret, you know, but no".

On the one hand, it's standard practice for MCU stars to deny any possible involvement in a project, whether it turns out to be true or not. Perhaps the best example is Andrew Garfield stating multiple times that he wouldn't appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, only for him to steal the spotlight in that very same movie. On the other hand, this isn't the first time we've heard about the Fist of Konshu missing out on the rest of the MCU's Multiverse Saga as a whole.
Back in December 2024, it was reported that characters such as Moon Knight and Werewolf would make a comeback only after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars. Apparently, Marvel wants its next phase to focus not only on mutants but also on supernatural storylines, with an eventual Midnight Sons crossover on the horizon. Now that Mephisto has finally made his big debut, it's clear that the iconic villain will have a big presence in the MCU, but only after Doctor Doom tries to reign supreme over the multiverse as a whole.
Moon Knight, Werewolf, and She-Hulk were all introduced during stand-alone Disney+ series, only to never be seen again. However, Jennifer Walters benefits not only from being Hulk's cousin but also from having already crossed paths with other heroes such as Daredevil. That makes it much easier for Marvel to integrate her character into any Avengers movie, as the only requirement would be for Bruce to make an appearance, too. However, Marc Spector's case is a bit different.
Moon Knight hasn't been fully integrated into the rest of the MCU. No other extended hero made an appearance in his series, and the multiverse didn't factor into his story. For all we know, the Avengers are unaware of Moon Knight's existence, and even if they did, they would have no reason to try to recruit him. Even if Marvel were to take the time in their most crowded movie to date to explain how the Fist of Konshu could be asked to join the fight, there's little reason to suggest he would accept.

There's no denying that the MCU has suffered from poor planning since the release of Avengers: Endgame. Fortunately, the superhero giant has been course-correcting in recent years, and that has become apparent with their new Disney+ strategy.
While shows used to run for only one season (with the exception of Loki), Daredevil: Born Again is confirmed to have three seasons under its belt, each releasing one year apart from the other. Furthermore, the Punisher—who made his MCU debut earlier this year—will not only have his own Special Presentation in 2026, but he'll also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Even Jessica Jones, who has yet to show up in the MCU (but will do so in the second season of Born Again), might have her own stand-alone show further down the line. It's hard to deny that every TV Marvel character appears to have a set path going forward.
Marvel's course correction could mean that they will bring back characters with only one appearance under their belt only when the timing is right. While heartbreaking, it's also the right move. That way, Moon Knight's comeback will not only be more impactful, but it will lead to a bigger storyline where he has the chance to steal the spotlight.
Perhaps there's a world where Marvel surprises us all by featuring Moon Knight in Avengers: Secret Wars. But, for the time being, it's best to assume that he'll skip the upcoming crossover movies and will have a bigger role in the MCU's next phase.
Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on Dec. 17, 2027.
